Permafrost Enters Early Access: Surviving an Endless Winter

Permafrost presents a grounded take on the post-apocalypse. The world has been buried under snow and ice after the event known as The Shattering, which destroyed the Moon and helped trigger the global catastrophe behind the game's permanent winter. Players explore ruined cities and frozen wilderness, scavenge for supplies, hunt, craft equipment, restore abandoned technology, and build a network of shelters that lets them push farther into hostile territory.Cold is one of the central survival systems. Frostbite, storms, Cold Zones, and the constant loss of body heat shape how long you can remain outside and how far you can travel before turning back. Better clothing slows heat loss, while fires, shelters, and warming consumables help you recover. The environment is deliberately designed to punish long, unplanned expeditions, especially when you enter harsher areas without a reliable route back to safety.
Permafrost can be played solo or in online co-op for up to four players. SpaceRocket Games encourages groups to divide responsibilities while exploring, scavenging, hunting, crafting, and maintaining shelter networks. The game also includes a dog companion that scouts ahead, warns about danger, and carries supplies. The Early Access build launches with multiple biomes, story content, side quests, crafting, building, co-op, hundreds of items, and the core survival systems already in place. SpaceRocket Games expects Early Access to last at least 12 months. The first four planned updates will expand combat animations, crafting and building, add more weapons and side quests, introduce weapon-part crafting, bring in a sledgehammer for destructible obstacles, and eventually open a new high-risk biome called White Hell.Permafrost is available on PC through Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store. The developers are actively collecting community feedback throughout Early Access and have already said that optimization, quality-of-life improvements, new areas, additional mechanics, and more story content will continue to arrive as development progresses.
