99 Nights in the Forest: How to Get Candy Fast (Halloween 2026)

Candy in 99 Nights in the Forest is the currency you need to buy items from Happy's Halloween shop. The more expensive rewards take time to save up for, and your farming speed depends on your costumes, the locations of houses, and how well you prepare for the night. In this guide, we'll explain how to set up an efficient Trick or Treat farming routine, earn more Candy per visit, and spend less time hunting for new outfits.

What is the best way to farm Candy?

Put together complete costumes and visit several houses close to one another at night. Four pieces from the same set give you a base reward of eight Candy per visit, while four mismatched pieces give you four. A matching outfit earns twice as much for the same number of pieces. That's why it's worth spending the start of each run finding costume parts and conveniently located houses before planning a longer nighttime route.Try to prepare at least two complete outfits for two nearby houses. At the base payout, that's 16 Candy in one night. Three such visits will earn you 24. These figures assume that each visit pays the stated amount, with no extra bonuses. How many houses you can actually visit depends on the distance between them, your supply of costume pieces, and how often you have to stop to survive.

Collect matching sets and save the pieces you're missing

Build a Costume Closet at camp and check your collection. A complete set needs four matching pieces from one theme: Pirate, Mummy, Werewolf, Astronaut, Dinosaur, or Lobster. If you've already found three Pirate pieces, set them aside until you get the fourth. Using an almost complete set for a random mixed outfit usually isn't worth it.
That doesn't mean you should spend several nights waiting for one last piece, either. Check your other items. You might already have a second complete set or plenty of spare pieces you can wear separately. We recommend keeping nearly complete sets intact and using duplicates and assorted leftovers for extra visits. That way, you can keep earning Candy while you look for the item you need.Equipped costume pieces are consumed after you visit a house. Before knocking on the next door, open the Costume Closet using the icon beside the map and put on another outfit. You don't have to run all the way back to the campfire. Check your equipment slots before knocking, especially after your first visit, since your character may no longer be wearing a costume. Showing up without any pieces won't earn you a treat.

Where to find more costume pieces quickly

During the day, combine your usual resource gathering with hunting for Halloween loot. Open Costume Boxes and chests near buildings, and pick up pieces dropped by wolves and cultists. Animals carrying event loot can be identified by the orange bats circling them, while costume pieces on cultists are highlighted. Check these opportunities as you travel so you won't have to start a separate costume hunt just before nightfall.
If you're comfortable fighting cultists, include their stronghold in your daytime trip. It's a good way to combine combat, equipment gathering, and costume drops. Before leaving, make sure the campfire has fuel and bring food and healing supplies. Early in a difficult run, it's safer to search nearby buildings and deal with individual wolves than to spend the entire day on a tough fight and return with nothing prepared for the night. If you keep running short of costume pieces for several nights, devote the next day to collecting them. An extra house farther away won't help if you have nothing to wear when you get there. Check your collection before leaving camp so you know whether you need to search another chest or can already prepare your route.

Plan a short route between houses

During the day, find two or three decorated houses near camp or close to each other. Walk between them and remember the landmarks. Finding the right door among the trees is much harder at night. If the entrance has an objective requiring a final Halloween Candle to complete its decorations, do that in advance by following the interaction prompt. Then check how many outfits you'll need for the entire route.
As night falls, approach the first house with your costume already equipped. Knock, wait for the result, change outfits through the Costume Closet menu, and head to the next house. Don't waste time at a door that tells you you've already visited. You'll have to wait for that house to reset before you can visit again. Use your other prepared stops in the meantime. We recommend getting a reliable route between two nearby houses working before adding a third. If the journey there takes up nearly all the remaining night, you're better off finding another pair or returning to costume gathering. You can repeat a convenient route on later nights once the houses become available again. Crossing the entire map quickly eats up time you could have spent on another visit.

Is the Candy farming class worth buying?

Happy sells the event Fancy Dressed class in the lobby for 30 Candy. Its perks help you find costume pieces more often, while leveling the class improves your trick-or-treat results and Candy earnings. It's a worthwhile purchase if you plan to farm the event currency for a long time and collect several expensive rewards. If you only want one cheap item, compare its price with the cost of the class first.
Still, choose a role that lets you gather items reliably. If your usual combat class can clear a cultist stronghold quickly and return with loot, it's a perfectly good choice for farming too. Struggling through fights and constantly heading back for healing can cost more time than the event perks save. First work out what's holding you back: a shortage of costume pieces, low Candy payouts, or trouble reaching houses safely.

How to earn bonus Candy from house visits

Rotate between houses if you have several prepared stops nearby. Returning to a house after a long break can give you a bonus for not visiting recently, shown in the reward breakdown as Not Visited in a While. Players have reported an extra one or two Candy. The exact waiting period hasn't been established, so we don't recommend standing by a door just to wait for this bonus.Treat it as a little extra while following your normal route. Visit one group of houses, then return to another later. In longer runs, players also receive extra Candy after Night 99. However, it's only worth starting a separate long run for that bonus once you've sorted out food, fuel, and costume gathering. For your first purchases, a few good visits every night are much easier to arrange.

Prepare your camp so farming doesn't get interrupted

Before heading out at night, refuel the campfire, eat, and take spare food and healing supplies. It's better to finish all of that before starting your route. Otherwise, you may have to return after the first house because you're hungry or running low on fuel, even though you still have complete outfits in your collection. In co-op, you can split the work. One player looks after camp while the others search for loot, and then everyone gets ready for the night.
Choose houses that are safe to approach and easy to retreat from. The resident might play a trick on you, temporarily slowing your character or changing your controls. Clear nearby enemies before interacting, and don't knock on a door when your health is almost empty. Losing a well-established run to one unlucky visit is much more frustrating than skipping a distant house.

How much Candy do you need for the rewards?

Before farming, visit Happy and choose what you're saving for. For example, the Candy Corn Bunny costs 80 Candy and the Vampire Alpha Wolf costs 200. At exactly eight Candy per visit, that's 10 and 25 visits respectively. If you've already saved some Candy, subtract it from the item's price, divide the remaining amount by eight, and round up.
Candy carries over between runs and isn't lost when you die, so you can save for an expensive item gradually. Costume pieces don't carry over into a new run. Before ending your current one, it's worth using any remaining outfits if you can do so safely. Once you've collected enough Candy, return to the lobby and buy your reward. Keep an eye on items marked with a clock icon, since their availability is tied to the event.

Step-by-step Candy farming routine

For a run focused on collecting Candy, follow this order:
  • Prepare the campfire and food, then build a Costume Closet.
  • Find several nearby houses and complete any available entrance objectives in advance.
  • During the day, collect costume pieces from boxes, chests, and enemy drops.
  • Before nightfall, prepare complete outfits for every planned visit.
  • Visit houses along a short route, changing costumes through the closet icon.
  • The next day, replenish your costume supply and return to houses once their visits have reset.
