The Forgotten Shovel in Prehistoric Farm is tied to Raptor X and Dr. Ivy's quests on Blackgate Isle. In this guide, we'll explain where to find the boss, how to get the key needed to summon it, and which dinosaurs you'll need to prepare. We'll also show you how to try for the rare shovel even if you don't have your own key yet.
How to Get the Forgotten Shovel
The Forgotten Shovel has a 1% chance to drop from Raptor X. To qualify for the shovel drop, you must deal at least 5% of the boss's maximum health in damage. Simply standing nearby while everyone else finishes the fight won't work. However, you don't need your own key. You can join a fight started by another player.If you want to summon the boss yourself, complete Dr. Ivy's three quests to earn the Bonebound Key. The key is permanent, so you won't have to repeat the entire questline before every fight. We recommend working through her quests between summons by other players. That way, you can start trying for the shovel before you've finished preparing everything. Winning a fight doesn't guarantee the drop, so don't assume you've missed a quest requirement if the shovel doesn't appear after your first victory.
Where to Find Blackgate Isle and Raptor X
Look for Blackgate Isle on the right side of the map, between Cambrian Island and Devonian Island. It lies northeast of Devonian Island and southeast of Cambrian Island. There is no separate compass marker, so use those two larger islands as your landmarks. You can get there by boat or on a flying pet.Image unavailableAfter landing at the dock, head inland toward the compound building. Dr. Ivy stands near the fence, while the device used to summon the boss is to the left of the building. If Raptor X is nowhere to be seen, check that device first. The boss only appears after someone summons it with the key. There's no need to keep circling the island looking for a roaming raptor.
How to Get the Bonebound Key to Summon the Boss
Speak to Dr. Ivy on Blackgate Isle and accept her first quest. The questline has three stages: fishing, fighting the Mosasaurus, and finally handing over dinosaurs. Return to Ivy after completing each objective to receive the next one. If you're going to dig up fossils on Cretaceous Island yourself, make sure you have a Titanium Shovel.You'll need the following for the full questline:
5 Raptor X Remnants, obtained through fishing.
5 Lock Fragments, rewarded for fighting the Mosasaurus.
1 Albino Rex and 3 Velociraptors, the dinosaurs required for the final quest.
Where to Get Five Raptor X Remnants
Once you've accepted the quest, go fishing with a rod and bait. You need Raptor X Remnants specifically. Catching ordinary fish won't advance this step. Aim for perfect casts and let your hook reach deep water. 160 meters is a useful depth to target. Even a good cast won't guarantee a Remnant, though, so bring enough bait for several attempts.Image unavailableKeep an eye on your active quest progress. Once you've collected five Remnants, return to Ivy on Blackgate Isle. Don't put off talking to her until you've gathered everything for the later steps. Finish the fishing objective first so you can unlock the next one. We recommend accepting the quest before you start fishing, rather than spending time on catches without the objective active.
Where to Get Five Lock Fragments
Lock Fragments are obtained by defeating the Mosasaurus boss near Home Island. It spawns at the beginning of every hour, when the clock reaches XX:00. Get ready ahead of time and watch for the sea boss to appear. Spears are useful in this fight because you can attack from a boat without getting right up against the creature.Join the fight and collect Fragments until you have five. Don't confuse these with Raptor X Remnants. They're separate items for different stages of the questline. Once you have enough, talk to Ivy on Blackgate Isle again. All that remains is preparing the dinosaurs for the final hand-in.
How to Make an Albino Rex and Prepare the Velociraptors
You can create an Albino Rex at the fusion lab on Cretaceous Island. The fusion requires one Tyrannosaurus rex and one Velociraptor, both at least Adult. Older dinosaurs at the Elder stage also work. Eggs and newly hatched babies won't qualify, so raise the pair first.Image unavailableTalk to the lab NPC and select Fuse Dinos. Choose your Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor, double-check your selection, and pay 150,000 coins. The fusion takes 20 minutes. When the timer finishes, return and press Claim. You'll receive an adult Albino Rex, ready to be handed in for the quest.Ivy also needs three separate Velociraptors. If you're making the Albino Rex from scratch, that means you'll need four Velociraptors in total. One goes into the fusion, and the other three are handed in at the end. Set aside the quest dinosaurs before choosing which ones to keep on your farm. Ivy takes the dinosaurs in exchange for the key. This isn't an exhibition where your pets come home afterward.Bring the Albino Rex and three Velociraptors to Blackgate Isle, finish your conversation with Ivy, and collect the Bonebound Key. Check the selected dinosaurs one last time before confirming the hand-in. Your preparations are now complete, and you can use the key to summon the boss repeatedly.
How to Summon Raptor X and Get the Reward
With the key in your inventory, approach the device to the left of the compound building and interact with it. After summoning Raptor X, there's a five-minute cooldown before it can be used again. If the device isn't available yet, check the timer before setting off to get another key. Your key isn't consumed after a single fight.Try to deal damage from the start of the battle, especially if there are powerful players nearby who can drain the boss's health quickly. Your contribution matters for the shovel. You must deal damage equal to at least 5% of Raptor X's maximum health. Landing the final blow alone doesn't replace that requirement. We recommend fighting in a group, but don't expect to qualify just by being present in the arena.Image unavailableAfter the victory, check your rewards and prepare for another attempt if the shovel didn't drop. A 1% chance doesn't guarantee the reward after 100 victories. The boss also has a separate reward in the form of a Raptor X Egg. Don't confuse that with the shovel drop. Receiving the egg doesn't mean the Forgotten Shovel should also appear in your inventory.
Can You Get the Shovel Without Completing the Quests?
Yes. Join a Raptor X fight started by another player. Head to Blackgate Isle and wait for someone with the key. Then join the battle and deal the required amount of damage. This lets you postpone the fishing, Fragment collection, and dinosaur hand-in if all you want right now is a chance at the shovel.Having your own key is more convenient for regular farming. You can start the fight whenever you're ready and the cooldown has ended. Choose whichever option suits you. If players on your server are already summoning the boss, join them first. If the island is empty, work on Ivy's questline. Once you get the Forgotten Shovel, you can use it to dig on Late Cretaceous Island, which is a good reason to keep hunting for it.
