Reaching the final boss in Valheim 1.0 is more complicated than simply finding another altar. To unlock Kall Fimbulbringer, you need to complete the main Mörkhalla chain three times, stop three Jotun Invasions, and obtain three Malicious Blood. In this guide, we'll explain how to trigger a Jotun Invasion, where to get Malicious Blood, and what to do at the Aesir Passage.
First, find Mörkhalla and unlock it with an Intricate Key. Descend to the lower floors until you find the Malicious Ice. Clear out the nearby enemies and destroy the ice object. A message about a Jotun Invasion will then appear, and a new marker will be added to the world map.Image unavailable
Where Does the Jotun Invasion Appear?
The event does not necessarily appear anywhere near the Deep North. Jotuns invade older regions of the world, so reaching the marker can sometimes require a fairly long trip. This is where the portal network you built throughout your playthrough really pays off. Teleport to the closest point and cover the remaining distance normally.Once you reach the event, the surrounding area will be covered in snow and filled with new enemies.
How to Stop a Jotun Invasion
Fight your way toward the center of the area, gradually taking out Krigen, Hexen, and the other enemies that appear. Your main target is once again the large mass of ice at the center of the event. It is best to clear the surrounding area before attacking it so enemies do not interfere.Image unavailableDestroy the central object. The Jotun Invasion will end, the area will gradually return to normal, and you will receive one Malicious Blood.
How Much Malicious Blood Do You Need?
You need three for the final progression chain. One Mörkhalla triggers one Jotun Invasion, and one completed Invasion rewards one Malicious Blood. That means you need to complete the entire sequence three times. At minimum, you will need:
That is exactly why we recommended continuing to farm key moulds after obtaining the first one.
How to Find the Aesir Passage
While exploring Mörkhalla, you can find a Vegvisir that adds the location of the Aesir Passage to your map. If you discovered the structure on your own earlier, simply mark it on the map. You still cannot reach the final boss immediately, because you first need three Malicious Blood.
How to Unlock Kall Fimbulbringer
Once you have all three items, travel to the Aesir Passage. There is a Strange Bowl near the entrance. Place Malicious Blood on your hotbar and use all three at the bowl. After the offering, the path to the final area where Kall Fimbulbringer is imprisoned will open.Image unavailableDo not rush straight toward the boss. Restore your Rested effect first, repair your equipment, refresh your food buffs, and prepare your consumables. The sources used for this guide do not provide a detailed breakdown of the fight itself, so we'll cover the Kall Fimbulbringer battle in a separate article once we have a source that properly documents his attacks and phases.
