The Intricate Key is one of the most important progression items in the Deep North in Valheim 1.0. You cannot simply find one in a chest. First, you need to obtain a Mould: Intricate Key, create a Bloodgold cast, and process it in the Frost Foundry. And one key will not be enough. In this guide, we'll explain where to find the mould, how to get the finished Intricate Key, and how many of them you need for the main progression route.
Head into the Winding Tunnels. Elakings can be found inside, and they are one of the enemies that drop the mould you need. The drop chance for Mould: Intricate Key is 20%. Clear the tunnels thoroughly and do not skip enemies in the side passages. The first mould will let you continue the next part of progression, but we recommend collecting extra copies right away. Every Intricate Key is consumed on use, and you will need to enter several Mörkhalla dungeons for the final progression chain.
How to Get Bloodgold
You need five Bloodgold for one cast. The material is obtained through Gammeltrolls. Defeat one of the giants on the surface of the Deep North, break apart its petrified body with Ember Charges, and collect the Petrified Tissue. Then process the material in a Blast Furnace.Image unavailable
How to Make Cast: Intricate Key
Once you have the mould and Bloodgold, head to a Level 4 Black Forge.Image unavailableYou will need:
Crafting them gives you Cast: Intricate Key. This is not the finished key yet! So there is no point heading to the gates of Mörkhalla just yet.
How to Get the Finished Intricate Key
Take the cast to the Frost Foundry. Before using the station, prepare Liquid Frost in the Frigid Kiln. Process the cast in the Frost Foundry to receive the finished Intricate Key. You can now return to one of the large towers in the Deep North and unlock Mörkhalla beneath it.
How Many Intricate Keys Do You Need?
The key is consumed when you open the gate. You cannot use a single item to unlock several Mörkhalla dungeons in sequence. To complete the main progression route toward Kall Fimbulbringer, you need three Malicious Blood. Each one is tied to a separate Mörkhalla clear followed by a Jotun Invasion. So for a direct route to the finale, plan on at least three Intricate Keys:
