Jack is one of the characters you meet very early in Graveyard Keeper 2, but his questline stretches across a large part of the game. At first, he needs your help building a boat. Later, you will liberate his workshop, set up supply runs, search for high-quality steel, and figure out how to access the Water Tunnel. In this guide, we'll explain how to complete all of Jack's quests and which materials are worth preparing in advance.

Jack in a Boat

This quest becomes available after meeting Herm. Return home and sleep. Jack will visit during the night and tell you about his plan to reach the port by boat. He is willing to build the vessel himself, but you will have to provide the materials. After the conversation, cross the bridge to Twins' Land and find Jack on the shore.
First, he needs 5 Wooden Planks, followed by 5 Bronze Details. You can prepare both resources in advance, although Jack accepts them one at a time. You also need to find someone to row the boat, so you can progress Heffry and Jeffry's questline at the same time.

How to Make Wooden Planks for Jack

Do not confuse Wooden Planks with regular Boards. At Woodworking Workbench I, one Board is turned into one Wooden Plank, so you need five crafting cycles for the quest. The recipe is unlocked by Woodworking I for 10 red tech points and requires Building Mastery 2.If you do not have the workstation yet, place it in the Yard using the building table. It requires 8 Boards and 4 Bronze Nails, after which you need to finish the frame with a Hammer. We cover workstations, Technologies, and their Mastery requirements in more detail in our Graveyard Keeper 2 crafting guide.
Once you have 5 Wooden Planks, return to Jack and choose the dialogue option to hand over the materials. He will then ask for metal parts and suggest finding someone who can row the boat. These two objectives are independent, so you can complete them in either order.

How to Make Bronze Details

The quest description mentions tools, but you do not actually need to craft the separate Bronze tools item. Jack specifically wants 5 Bronze Details. One crafting cycle at an anvil turns 1 Bronze Ingot into six Bronze Details, so a single batch is enough. If you do not have the necessary production setup yet, you will need to develop the Metallurgy branch a little. First, research Bronze Works for 5 red tech points and build a Wooden Anvil from 1 Short Log and 1 Stone. Then unlock Bronze Melting for 10 red tech points. This gives you access to Furnace I and the Firewood Shed. The furnace requires 6 Pieces of Stone and 12 Bricks, while the shed costs 10 Sticks and 2 Bronze Nails.
Next, research Bronze Craft for 30 red tech points. This unlocks Bronze Details and the Hardening Bucket. Place the extension next to the anvil using 4 Wooden Planks and 8 Bronze Nails. The Hardening Bucket is an extension rather than a separate workstation, so there is no additional frame to finish after placing it.Load Fuel through the Firewood Shed and smelt a Bronze Ingot. Early in the game, 3 Bronze Scrap and 10 Fuel produce two ingots. Use one of them at the anvil, collect 6 Bronze Details, and take at least five to Jack. You will also receive Blacksmith's Clothes during this stage.

How to Convince the Twins to Help Jack

Jack needs rowers for the trip, which means asking Heffry and Jeffry for help. The brothers only agree once you have 10 Village Reputation. This specifically refers to your overall reputation with the village. Graveyard Quality and your relationship with Herbert do not count. If you are still below the requirement, turning in the Wheat during Herm's quests gives you 5 Village Reputation, while helping the twins replace the lost Clay Plates provides another five. If you have already earned enough reputation elsewhere, you do not need to complete those particular quests for this check.
Once the brothers agree, return to Jack. Both conditions must be met before he can leave: Heffry and Jeffry must agree to row, and Jack must have received 5 Bronze Details.

How to Send Jack to the Port and Wait for His Letter

Once all the requirements are complete, talk to Jack and confirm that he is ready to leave. Watch the departure scene. You will receive reputation with Jack, Town Gratitude, and a Story. You do not travel with him. Instead, the journal tells you to wait for news.Return home and sleep. This part requires two consecutive story triggers from sleeping: the first advances the waiting period, while after the second the twins return with a letter. If the quest still tells you to wait for Jack, do not stand around the empty shore. Simply sleep again.
Read the letter. Jack remains at the port, but sends the Nun to you. You also unlock the Magic bell recipe and the next stage of the story. Head to the Village Tavern and continue Agatha's questline, as her quests unlock Faith, which you will need for Herbert's later preparations.

Docked and Found

The next part of Jack's questline begins after the first successful counterattack. If you have only just received his letter, you will first need to deal with the church, Faith, and Herbert's quests. After winning the battle that opens the route to the port, travel through the liberated part of Town toward the bridge. As you approach, a scene begins. Jack calls out to the Keeper from the opposite side, and the bridge opens during the conversation. You do not need to repair anything or bring any materials. The reunion rewards you with 10 reputation with Jack and 10 Town Quality. Jack then tells you about the Astrologer in the observatory before heading off to inspect the Town Warehouse.

What to Do with Jack at the Warehouse

Do not try to catch Jack while he is walking to the warehouse, as you cannot speak with him until he reaches his destination. Wait until he stops near the entrance, watch the scene, then walk away briefly and return. The next conversation will then become available. The manager explains that the remaining supplies belong to the Town and opens the main entrance. No key is required. Once inside, it quickly becomes clear that the warehouse is almost empty and that restoring trade will require a new ship. If you want to understand this system in advance, see our guide to the Town Warehouse, orders, and supplies.
After the scene, speak with Jack again and ask about supplies. He directs the Keeper toward the old quarry and mine in the Forest west of the village. This conversation does not open the Forest gate itself. You will still need to deal with the guards blocking the route. You can also head to the observatory Jack mentioned. You do not need access to the Forest or the supply system to do this. This begins Gunter the Astrologer's major questline, which eventually intersects with Jack's story again.

Workshop Hours

After your first visit to the warehouse, Jack posts a one-time Supply: Iron order on the order board. Accept it on the corresponding commerce day shown on the board. You only need the Tier I order for a single crate.Early in the game, Supply: Iron can be crafted at a Woodworking Workbench using 6 Iron Ingots, 4 Boards, and 8 Bronze Nails with Building Mastery 4. Later, the same crate can be assembled at an Assembly Bench using 8 Iron Ingots, so use whichever production method is already available in your save.Take the finished crate to the Town Warehouse or Warehouse Cellar and place it at the supply drop-off. One important detail: seeing 1/1 on the counter is not enough. Wait until the warehouse system fully processes the order, claim the result through the order board, and only then talk to Jack. If the supply-related dialogue option remains unavailable, you may need to wait for the next order cycle.
Completing the order gives you 10 reputation with Jack and 1 Town Gratitude. It also unlocks the next part of his questline, involving the liberation of his workshop and the battle for the square.

Jack's Back in Business

You cannot enter Jack's workshop immediately. First, you need to win the battle for Market Square as part of Herbert's storyline. Once the area has been liberated, the entrance becomes accessible. Go inside and watch Jack return to his workplace. You receive another 10 reputation, 2 Town Gratitude, and a Story.Liberating the workshop is not enough, however. The building has been badly damaged, so Jack asks for materials to restore it: 5 Building Kit I and 5 Wooden Kit I. You can hand over the two batches in either order. To make five Building Kit I, you need 5 Stone Kits and 30 Bricks. Wooden Kit I is produced two at a time, so make three batches using a total of 9 Wooden Planks and 3 Oiled Planks. This gives you six kits, five for Jack and one extra.Bring the materials to the workshop and use both hand-in options. Once the repairs are complete, you receive another 10 reputation and 2 Town Gratitude. This entire section of Jack's questline, including the iron supply order, reclaiming the workshop, and restoring it, gives you 30 reputation with him, which becomes especially important for the relationship checks in later quests.

Stars, Lies, & Contracts

This stage is tied to Gunter's storyline. After you give the Astrologer his poetry book, he gives you a PR Agreement and asks you to convince Jack to become the face of his campaign. Find Jack at the Town Warehouse or his workshop and ask him about the PR offer.During the first conversation, the PR Agreement is handed over to Jack. He is generally interested, but refuses to sign while his workshop is not fully operational. The next dialogue option requires 60 reputation with Jack.If your reputation is still too low, continue Jack's quests and come back later. You do not need to find another copy of the agreement. Once you reach 60 reputation, speak with Jack again and receive the Signed PR Agreement, then take it back to Gunter.

Front-of-the-Envelope Calculation

This quest becomes available after the election storyline. Leave the Village Tavern after the relevant scene and head to Jack's Town Workshop. Discussing his calculations requires 60 reputation, but the value is only checked and is not consumed.Jack reaches a discouraging conclusion: without additional workers and high-quality steel, restoring the Town's industry will take decades. Tell him about your underground Factory, then continue the conversation about the second problem. If you have already progressed far enough in Gunter's quests to learn about the portal, some dialogue may differ slightly, but this is not required to complete the stage.

How to Open the Water Tunnel

After discussing the calculations, speak with Jack again and ask about the Water Tunnel. He explains that the passage is flooded and lies inside an infected part of Town. To drain it, you need to close the left gate of the ship lock and then activate the valve on the right. You cannot simply walk up to the mechanism. Another offensive from Market Square is required. This conversation starts the corresponding stage in Herbert's questline and opens Jack's next branch involving high-quality steel. If you have already started the necessary battle through Linda's questline, the game simply connects the two story branches and lets you continue.

Man of Steel

A new objective appears after the Water Tunnel conversation, but you cannot complete it immediately. First, you need to unlock the Royal Foundry through the main story. Once it becomes accessible, speak with the Bishop there and ask about high-quality steel. This unlocks the option to obtain the required material from him. Jack needs 3 Steel Ingots, so buy them from the Bishop or use any you already have.Return to the Town Workshop and give Jack 3 Steel Ingots. Completing the quest rewards you with another 10 reputation and 3 Town Gratitude. Jack then becomes interested in your Factory, unlocking the next stage.

Factory Tour

Your Factory must reach 20 Quality before you can invite Jack to visit. There is no need to raise the value beyond 20, and the check does not consume any Quality. Once the Factory is ready, return to the Town Workshop, invite Jack over, and watch the tour scene. After the visit, your reputation with Jack increases by another 10. At this point, you should have enough reputation for the final important conversation involving the portal.

More Portal Parts

The final part of Jack's main questline becomes available after you install the Lust fragment in Gunter's portal frame. Once that is done, return to Jack and ask him about the portal fragment. The first conversation requires 60 reputation, while the follow-up requires 80. Reputation is only checked and is not consumed. If you have not reached the required value, complete Jack's previous quests, including Man of Steel and Factory Tour.At 80 reputation, Jack finally agrees to part with the stone. Watch the scene to receive the Pride fragment. Return to Gunter's tower and install it in the portal frame. The fragment will be consumed, and the Keeper receives 1 Story I.
This concludes Jack's main questline. By this point, you will have helped him reach the port, restored his workshop, established Town supply routes, found high-quality steel, and obtained one of the portal fragments required to complete the device.
