The Last Taxi Walkthrough in CONTROL Resonant — All Taxi Locations and Puzzle Solutions

The Last Taxi is a Side Story in CONTROL Resonant involving anomalous cabs that transport Dylan into a separate Threshold. Each time, you need to answer Mila's call at a payphone and then solve another taxi puzzle. There are seven cabs to find across different areas of Manhattan. In this guide, we'll show you where to find every taxi and how to complete each puzzle.

First Taxi — Evacuation Zone

The first taxi can be found in the southeastern part of the Evacuation Zone. Look for a long alley with Hiss Spikes covering the ground and laser beams above them. Use Elevate and Rush to cross the dangerous section. At the end of the alley, you will find a taxi with its lights on. Interact with the cab and agree to help. Dylan will get inside and be transported to a separate Threshold.Do not leave through the main menu or abandon the objective after dying if you want to keep your current progress in The Last Taxi. Once you appear on the road, walk forward and turn left near the newsstand. Continue until you reach an alley with a neon hotel sign. A phone will start ringing here. Approach the payphone and answer Mila's call.After the conversation, return to the road and continue walking until the route loops back around. Six taxis will now appear on the street, three on each side.During the first round, watch the flashing lights. The correct taxi has a different rhythm and flashes out of sync with the other vehicles. If you choose the wrong cab, the traffic light turns red and Dylan returns to the beginning of the street. A correct choice turns the signal green.During the second round, the taxis flash their lights one at a time. You need to find the cab that flashes several times in succession before the sequence moves on to the next vehicle.In the final round, choose the only taxi that does not flash at all. Dylan will then return to Manhattan, although Mila's story is far from over.

Second Taxi — West Incursion Zone

The next taxi is located in the West Incursion Zone, not far from the Theater where you fight the local Resonant. You need to have unlocked Shift to reach this area. Once you reach the street with the frozen dancing Hiss, turn left and use Shift to change your orientation and reach the taxi. Get inside, and after arriving in the Threshold, head to the ringing payphone again. Talk to Mila, then return to the road.In the first round, find the taxi parked beneath the only blinking streetlight.In the second round, the rule changes. This time, you need the vehicle beneath the streetlight that does not blink at all.For the final group, watch the lighting pattern. The correct taxi is parked beneath the streetlight that flashes out of sync with the others. From the starting point, it is the front vehicle on the left. Get inside to finish the second encounter and return to the West Incursion Zone.

Third Taxi — Central

The third taxi is located in Central. From the Field Office, head north until you reach an alley. The cab is parked near a crate. Interact with it, then find the payphone after entering the Threshold and speak with Mila again.Return to the taxis. During the first round, choose the only cab with its roof sign illuminated.The rule stays the same for the second group. Find the taxi with the TAXI roof sign turned on.For the final round, head toward the far group of four vehicles. The correct taxi has its headlights, rear lights, and roof sign illuminated at the same time. Get inside and Dylan will return to Central.

Fourth Taxi — The Park

The fourth taxi becomes accessible in The Park after you make enough progress in the search for Jesse. Head to the northeastern part of the zone and find the large multi-level parking garage with a neon sign on the wall. Climb to the upper level. There is a Vendor nearby, as well as a passage leading down one floor. Follow it to reach the taxi. After entering the Threshold, answer Mila's call once again, then return to the road.This time, you do not need to identify the correct taxi by its lights. Instead, Mold growths surround the vehicle. Destroy them to reveal the missing car parts. Pick up each component and attach it to the taxi, then get inside.In the next section, the taxi has been dismantled again. Both wheels are lying to the left of the vehicle, while the hood is farther down the road. Make sure to take the yellow hood, as the blue one is a decoy. Also avoid getting too close to the pulsating Mold growths, as they explode when Dylan approaches. Install all the correct parts and get back into the restored taxi.In the final section, destroy the three outer Mold clusters first. As long as they remain intact, the central growth will continue regenerating. Once they are gone, destroy the core in the middle to free the taxi and scatter its parts around the area. Reassemble the cab one last time and get inside to complete this stage of the Side Story.

Fifth Taxi — Underpass

You can only reach the fifth taxi much later in the story, after unlocking the Underpass.Continue through the main story until you restore power to the Cable Car. Ride it down to the lower levels and enter the first arena containing Mold enemies. Eliminate all of them, then head to the far-left corner of the area. The taxi is easy to spot because of its bright headlights.After entering the Threshold, speak with Mila on the phone again and return to the group of taxis. During the first round, wait for the streetlights to go out. The correct cab is the only one whose own lights remain on during the blackout.During the second round, wait for the streetlights to switch off again. This time, choose the taxi whose roof sign does not light up when the street goes dark.For the final round, look for a taxi whose lights remain completely off while the streetlights are on. When the streetlights go dark, this cab will instead turn its own lights on. Get inside to return to the Underpass.

Sixth Taxi — Unknown

The sixth taxi becomes available after you unlock Unknown near the final part of the game. Head toward the islands in the southern part of the zone and progress through Pope's Research. Place the Probe Relays to align the route toward the southeastern islands, then continue until you can reach the southernmost island.From there, move toward the western side of the island. The taxi is parked near the edge. There are plenty of enemies in the area, so clear them out first if necessary. Once inside the Threshold, talk to Mila and return to the taxis. A portable light is lying on the ground nearby. Pick it up.Shine the light at each taxi and pay attention not to the vehicle itself but to the shadow it casts. Most of the cars project incorrect silhouettes, such as trucks, construction vehicles, or other forms of transportation. You need to find the taxi whose shadow actually matches the shape of the car.Repeat the same process for two more groups of vehicles. After making three correct choices, Dylan will return to Unknown.

Seventh Taxi — Downtown

The final taxi is located in Downtown. You need the Reach ability to access the required part of the zone.Use Reach on the designated grapple points to get onto the raised FBC platform and cross the wall. Then follow the main road north. At the end, you will find a neatly parked row of vehicles. Look for the flashing taxi among them and get inside.After entering the Threshold, answer Mila's phone call one final time, then return to the taxis. During the first round, find the only cab with its roof sign illuminated.During the second round, approach the taxis one at a time and watch their roof signs. The correct taxi is the one whose sign remains illuminated when Dylan approaches.For the final round, approach any taxi and look around. The roof sign on one of the other cabs will light up. That is the taxi you need to enter.This time, Dylan does not immediately return to Manhattan. Go back to the payphone and answer Mila's call again. She says that she is done waiting and will try to escape on her own. Once the conversation ends, Dylan returns to the real world.Talk to Zoe. She suggests that Mila may still be alive if she really managed to escape the Threshold.

Reward for Completing The Last Taxi

Completing all seven taxi encounters rewards you with the Untapped Coffee Cup Artifact. Like other Untapped Artifacts, it can be turned into the finished Coffee Cup at the Artifact Formation station in The Gap.The Coffee Cup slowly regenerates Dylan's Health while he is outside combat, making it particularly useful while exploring Manhattan and completing optional activities.
