Crossing the Threshold is a side quest in CONTROL Resonant that begins in Central. Dylan needs to investigate the deaths of several FBC employees, discover what happened to AVP-3, and ultimately decide the entity's fate during a conversation with Wilson. In this guide, we'll explain how to complete the quest, find all the necessary evidence, and get the good ending.
Head to Central and travel west from the Field Office. About a block away, look for an alley with an open garage. A headless FBC employee is lying inside. Approach the body and report your discovery to Zoe. This starts the Crossing the Threshold side quest.Image unavailable
Investigate the Dig Site Threshold
After speaking with Zoe, head to the marked area. At the Dig Site, you will find another body beside an open Threshold. The screen takes on a yellow tint when you enter the affected area.Examine the dead employee, report the body to Zoe, and collect the Mobile Research Station Keycard. Nearby, you can also find documents, recordings, and Wilson's ID Badge beside a bloodstained lab coat.Image unavailableWith the keycard, climb up to the yellow mobile research station marked TE near the door. Unlock it, collect the documents inside, and listen to the Threshold Site Recording. Zoe will then ask you to investigate the Field Hospital and the location where the investigation began. You can visit them in either order.
Investigate the Loading Docks
Return to the location where you found the first body and examine it again. Dylan will notice that the incident was captured by a nearby security camera. Zoe cannot retrieve the recording remotely, so you will need to find the CCTV footage at the Security Station.
Investigate the Field Hospital and Find the CCTV Footage
Return to the Field Office and look for two blue containers stacked on top of each other. Climb the stairs to the upper container and open the door using Level 1 Clearance.At the far end of the room, you will find another headless body lying on a table. Report it to Zoe, then examine the locked Archive Cabinet to the left of the glass partition. After the conversation, you will learn that the code was recently changed and can be found at the Security Station.Leave the Field Hospital and head toward the structure made from three yellow containers opposite it. Climb to the upper floor and turn right after entering. There are two computers on the desk. Use the nearest one and cycle through the screens until you see an image of the medical cabinet. Dylan now has enough information to confront Wilson.
How to Find Wilson
Wilson is hiding in the Warehouse in the northern part of Central. On the way there, you will have to complete a mandatory Hiss encounter before the route opens.Another group of enemies is waiting inside the Warehouse, including the mini-boss Linus, a Hiss Pursuer — Apex. Before focusing on him, climb to the upper level and eliminate the three flying Hiss Riveters so they cannot interfere with the main fight.Image unavailableLinus specializes in close-range attacks and can set Dylan on fire. His spinning attack is particularly dangerous. Evade it, wait until the animation finishes, and only then counterattack. Once all the Hiss are defeated, open the door and speak with Wilson.
Which Answers to Choose When Talking to Wilson
Your dialogue choices directly affect the outcome of the quest. To get the good ending and both unique rewards, choose the following responses in order:
“What did you do to him?”
“I saw something on the CCTV...”
“Calm down, I believe you.”
“I'll take him.”
During the conversation, you learn that AVP-3 is a young Threshold entity trying to return home. It needs a host to survive and transfers to another person whenever its current host is about to die. Dylan agrees to carry AVP-3 back to the Threshold himself.Interact with the FBC employee in the gas mask lying on the floor to host the entity.If you choose hostile dialogue options or decide that AVP-3 should be contained instead, Wilson will eventually become its next host. His headless body can later be found at the Dig Site Threshold, and you will miss the quest's unique rewards.
How to Return AVP-3 and Get the Rewards
After hosting AVP-3, return to the Dig Site Threshold in the southwestern part of Central. Enter the large yellow square inside the Threshold to send the entity home.Completing the quest this way rewards you with the Sensory Restraint Hood cosmetic item and the Untapped Practice Knot Artifact.The Untapped Practice Knot can later be formed into the Practice Knot at the Gap using Artifact Formation. The Artifact increases the Falter dealt by your attacks against Heavy enemies.
