Croatian studio Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital have announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter, a direct story sequel to 2002's Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, with no prequels, reimaginings, or spin-offs.In the story, Sam will go on the offensive for the first time. He will venture to distant alien worlds, where he will finally reach his archenemy and strike a decisive blow against Mental's army. Croteam promises a return to the series' classic formula, with thousands of enemies on screen, constant movement, relentless firefights, and assaults on enemy strongholds. The arsenal will retain the legendary weapons from previous games, including the minigun, alongside new additions. The development team also includes modders behind Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. The campaign will be playable solo or in co-op. Steam lists both online multiplayer and split-screen co-op. The game will feature full Russian localization, including voice acting. So far, it has only been announced for PC, with more details promised later.
