Boltgun 2 follows directly from the ending of the first game. Malum Caedo returns as the relentless Ultramarine Sternguard Veteran, but this time he is joined by Nyra Veyrath, a battle-hardened Sister of Battle. The two characters have different abilities, weapons, and movement styles, giving the campaign more variety than simply adding another set of levels for Caedo.Nyra fights with the traditional Adepta Sororitas arsenal, including a bolt pistol, power sword, bolter, flamer, and melta weapons. Caedo retains the heavier Space Marine approach built around weapons such as the bolter, shotgun, and chainsword. The sequel also introduces new enemies from multiple Chaos factions, including Bloodletters and Juggernauts, while the campaign branches into different routes with unique levels. One major change is the structure of the campaign itself. Instead of presenting only a straightforward sequence of arenas, Boltgun 2 allows players to choose paths through the story, with different branches leading to different levels and encounters. The developers have also added a navigation guide to make moving through larger combat spaces easier.Auroch Digital has confirmed that composer Mick Gordon, known for DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein: The New Order, created the music for the game's final boss battle. The studio has also said the sequel incorporates all four major Chaos factions across its expanded enemy roster.Despite several inaccurate pre-release reports, Boltgun 2 is a single-player game. Steam and Xbox list no co-op or PvP modes. The focus is entirely on the branching campaign, two playable characters, new weapons, new enemies, and faster retro-FPS combat.Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 launches on October 14, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is coming later.
