Dinosaurs in Prehistoric Farm help you earn coins, travel between islands faster, and unlock new ways to develop your farm. In this guide, we'll rank the best dinosaurs, explain which ones are worth raising for income, which to keep for quests, and why the rarest pet isn't always the one you need right now.

How to Use This Dinosaur Tier List

For long-term income, aim for the True dinosaurs from Late Cretaceous, Albino Rex, and Raptor X. Until you can get them, build up your farm with more accessible Legendary creatures such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Spinosaurus, and Allosaurus. It's also worth getting a flying pet for travel. It won't dig up fossils for you, but it will save you some boat trips and make returning to quests much quicker.Below, we compare estimated base income at the Elder growth stage. These figures are calculated from reference stats, not guaranteed net profits. The costs of obtaining and feeding each dinosaur aren't deducted, and you should check actual payouts on your own farm. Younger animals earn less while they grow, so don't get rid of a reliable earner just because you've hatched an egg with a more impressive rarity.A dinosaur's position reflects how valuable it is for a coin-producing farm. We'll look at its usefulness for quests and travel separately. Velociraptor still has a job to do even after other species overtake it in income. And don't try to fill your entire farm with S-tier dinosaurs before buying your next shovel upgrade. Your farm needs pets that are actually working, not five empty slots reserved for future stars.

S Tier: True Dinosaurs for Endgame Farming

This tier contains five Mythic creatures from the Late Cretaceous collection:
  • True T. rex.
  • True Spinosaurus.
  • True Argentinosaurus.
  • True Triceratops.
  • True Mosasaurus.
All five have the same estimated Elder income of 2,187.5 coins per minute. If you're choosing purely for earnings, looks and size don't matter. Start with whichever egg you can get first. The enormous Argentinosaurus doesn't earn extra coins over True T. rex just because it's bigger. If your goal is a farm full of profitable dinosaurs, getting a second useful animal matters more than completing a perfect set of five different species. You'll need the Forgotten Shovel to dig on Late Cretaceous Island. Collect five fossils from the same True species and take the completed set to the DNA Lab. Five fossils from different species won't combine into one egg. You can also fight True bosses for a chance to earn an egg as a reward.Once hatched, a Mythic pet needs up to 24 hours of uninterrupted growth at the normal rate to reach Elder. Incubation time isn't included. If the dinosaur goes hungry, it will take longer. That's why S tier is a goal for an established farm, not a quick solution to an early coin shortage. Keep your current earners working while the newcomer grows.

A Tier: Albino Rex and Raptor X

Albino Rex: A Straightforward Route Through Fusion

Albino Rex has an estimated Elder income of 1,312.5 coins per minute. Its biggest advantage when planning your farm is a known crafting recipe: one Adult Tyrannosaurus rex and one Adult Velociraptor. Fusion takes place at the Fusion Lab on Cretaceous Island, costs 150,000 coins, and takes 20 minutes. The result is already an Adult, so you don't have to raise it from a hatchling again. We recommend making an Albino Rex once you have a spare pair for the recipe and enough money left after your next essential upgrades. Don't automatically sacrifice your only income-producing T. rex. First, think about what will keep earning coins once it's gone. Creating a rarer creature doesn't mean the investment will pay for itself immediately, especially if it forces you to postpone access to the next island. There's also a quest reason to keep an Albino Rex. Dr. Ivy takes one, along with three Velociraptors, in exchange for the Bonebound Key used to summon Raptor X. Decide in advance whether you're raising the dinosaur for income or to turn it in. Better to prepare a separate Rex than discover, after talking to Ivy, that your farm's main earner has been turned into a key.

Raptor X: A Rare Target Worth Farming Alongside the Shovel

Raptor X matches Albino Rex in estimated Elder income at 1,312.5 coins per minute. Its egg is a possible reward from the boss on Blackgate Isle. Winning the battle doesn't guarantee you'll receive the pet, though, so we wouldn't make it your farm's only progression plan.
The good news is that these boss fights also give you a chance to obtain the Forgotten Shovel. While you're trying to get the tool, you might pick up a Raptor X egg along the way. Treat these runs as another route to progress while continuing to fill your main farm with dinosaurs you can already obtain. Raptor X is great once you have one, but waiting for a rare egg won't make your other pets earn any faster.

B Tier: Strong Dinosaurs for Your Main Farm

Tyrannosaurus rex and Spinosaurus: Your Main Cretaceous Goals

Tyrannosaurus rex and Spinosaurus both have an estimated Elder income of 787.5 coins per minute. There's no reason to abandon an almost-complete fossil set for one species just to chase the other. Collect whichever fossils are available and hatch the egg you can finish first. Both are better for an established farm than endlessly stockpiling weak starter pets.Tyrannosaurus rex has another use: it's needed to make Albino Rex. If you plan to use fusion, save a suitable Adult, or better yet, raise a spare. Both Legendary predators take an estimated 16 hours to grow from hatching to Elder without pauses or speed boosts. Compare them with older pets based on their current growth stage, not just their species names.

Quetzalcoatlus: Good Income and Faster Flights

Quetzalcoatlus has the same estimated Elder income of 787.5 coins per minute. But its real appeal for farm progression is travel. As a flying mount, it makes moving between islands much easier. It also leads the five flying species in the reference speed stats, which makes it more valuable for exploring than its income alone would suggest. You can hatch it from Sky Eggs earned through Clara's quests, with a 5% chance of getting this species. We suggest raising the first flying dinosaur you can get and using it while you hunt for Quetzalcoatlus. Pteranodon, Tapejara, Rhamphorhynchus, and Pterodactylus can all carry you through the skies before that rare egg appears. There's no point putting every trip on hold for the perfect mount.

C Tier: Solid Choices for the Midgame

These dinosaurs will help develop your farm while you work toward Mythic pets. Some still earn enough that there's no need to rush into replacing them:
  • Allosaurus is a Legendary Jurassic pet with an estimated Elder income of 525 coins per minute.
  • Triceratops is an Epic Cretaceous pet with the same estimated income of 525 coins per minute.
  • Stegosaurus is an Epic Jurassic pet earning 350 coins per minute at Elder.
  • Herrerasaurus is a Legendary Triassic pet with an estimated income of 328.125 coins per minute.
  • Ankylosaurus is a Rare Cretaceous pet earning 315 coins per minute at Elder.
This shows why rarity alone doesn't tell the whole story. The Epic Triceratops from a later period earns as much at the base rate as the Legendary Jurassic Allosaurus. Stegosaurus even edges out the Legendary Herrerasaurus. Don't throw away a useful pet just because your neighbor has a fancier rarity border. For the midgame, start with species whose fossil sets you've already completed. Hatch them, keep them fed, and continue saving for tools. A Legendary dinosaur from an earlier period can still be worth keeping for your collection or for travel. But before staying on an old island just to get another one, compare it with the animals you can now raise from the next period.

D Tier: Starter Farm Dinosaurs and Useful Quest Pets

Hallucigenia, common Cambrian creatures, and other early discoveries are helpful while you're still unlocking islands. For example, Hallucigenia has an estimated Elder income of 52.5 coins per minute. That's not much for a developed farm, but an animal that's already grown can support you while stronger ones are still maturing. A low tier doesn't mean you need to clear its slot immediately.Even the Legendary Anomalocaris and Dunkleosteus don't become leaders in late-game coin farming just because they're rare. Their estimated Elder incomes are 131.25 and 210 coins per minute, respectively. They're interesting additions to a collection and helpful for early progression. But if you already have access to more profitable Cretaceous creatures, there's little reason to rebuild your whole farm around earlier periods just for a Legendary label.
Make sure you keep some Velociraptors, too. Their estimated 183.75 coins per minute at Elder doesn't make them the best late-game earners, but you need them for fusion and the Bonebound Key. One Adult Velociraptor goes into creating Albino Rex, and another three are handed over at the end of Ivy's questline. Keeping a supply of them may advance your progress more than the small income boost from swapping in another pet.

Which Dinosaurs to Raise First at Each Stage

Early on, hatch creatures from your first available fossil sets rather than leaving the farm empty while you wait for a Legendary egg. Keep them fed and invest in the shovel that opens the next period. Your early pets have a clear purpose: helping you reach more profitable discoveries. There's no point judging them as if you'd already unlocked Late Cretaceous Island.During the midgame, raise any Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, and other useful pets you can obtain while making your way toward Cretaceous Island. Work on Clara's quests to get your first flying mount. Then move on to Tyrannosaurus rex and Spinosaurus, keeping the animals you'll need for fusion. That way, your income and access to new activities grow together.Once your farm is well developed, choose between creating Albino Rex and hunting rare eggs. Combine Raptor X fights with your search for the Forgotten Shovel, then start working toward True dinosaurs. Replace your earners gradually. Wait for a new pet to bring in comparable income before making room for it. Don't clear half your farm for a handful of hatchlings that still have hours of growing ahead of them.

What Stops Your Farm from Making Money

First, check hunger levels. The belly meter needs to stay above halfway for growth to continue. Hunger stops development, and buying another egg won't fix a pet that refuses to reach its next growth stage. Stock up on suitable food and finish raising the dinosaurs already living on your farm.
Next, compare dinosaurs at the same growth stage. For example, a newborn True T. rex has an estimated income of 437.5 coins per minute, while an Elder Allosaurus makes 525. A future top earner can still lose to a fully grown mid-tier pet right after hatching. Base your replacement decision on current earnings and your growth plan, not just a tier-list letter. Finally, separate pets you keep for profit from those you need for quests. Don't hand over your only Albino Rex if you're relying on its income, and don't get rid of your Velociraptors before fusion. Keep a convenient mount for travel, profitable creatures for the farm, and the right pair set aside for your next quest. That way, each new discovery makes your farm stronger instead of forcing you to rebuild it from scratch.
