In Silver Pines, even the simplest-looking item can be more useful than another box of ammunition. Mementos give Red Walker passive bonuses, such as faster reloads, stronger attacks, reduced stamina costs, or access to areas that would otherwise be difficult to reach. A complete collection contains 25 items, and the final one appears close to the end of the game. Below, we go through every location, explain each effect, and show what you need for the Burden of Memories achievement and the Live ending.

How to use Mementos and unlock additional slots

Found items do not simply sit in your inventory. You can equip them in the Mementos section. The waitress Julee identifies each discovery, after which its properties become available. Red starts with only one slot, so you need to choose between defense, speed, and damage. Do not be afraid to swap your active Memento for the current task. A swimming bonus is useful for crossing a large body of water, while a combat-oriented effect is more valuable during a boss fight. To increase the number of effects you can use at once, find Memento Vessel Shards. They are hidden inside wooden bird figurines with hanging bells. Shoot the figurines down and collect the contents. Combine four shards in your inventory to create a complete Vessel, then use it to unlock another slot. There are 16 shards in total, enough for four additional slots and five simultaneously equipped Mementos.

Outskirts and Crimson Bear Motel: Mementos 1-4

1. Empty Matchstick Box

Return to Miner Diner, where the adventure begins. Pick up the box cutter outside Rodney's General Store, then use it to clear the obstruction near the diner restrooms and enter the basement. Search the desk in the staff room to find the box. It is worth collecting early because slow reloads can turn an ordinary encounter into a serious problem at the start of the game.
Bonus: firearms reload 25% faster.

2. Chipped Ceramic Bear

Look for the room behind the palm-tree door on the lower floor of Crimson Bear Motel. To open it, first use the pool net to pull the dirty object from the pool drain, then clean it with the special solution. Install the resulting handle on the palm-tree door in the gift shop basement. Complete the scene in the Rabbit Hole, then turn off the lights after returning and check the table on the left. The ceramic bear appears there. Do not leave the basement immediately after the story sequence because this interaction is easy to miss.Bonus: increases maximum stamina by 10 points, including stamina used for sprinting and dodging.

3. Corroded Iron Ball

On the way back to the ferry station, Red encounters a creature in the tunnel. Reload before the fight and keep your distance. The monster is dangerous up close, so it is safer to dodge its lunges first and then shoot the head. After winning, make sure to search the enemy's body and take the iron ball. Do not continue straight to the ferry until the item is in your inventory.
Bonus: reduces all incoming damage by 10%.

4. Switchblade Cufflink

Return to the Outskirts with the shotgun. Near the underground passage, find the side tunnel and a wooden barrier hiding a small room. Break the obstruction, go inside, and open the box containing the cufflink. If you cannot reach it early in the game, mark the location on the map and come back after obtaining a weapon that can destroy barriers.
Bonus: normal melee attacks become 30% faster.

Downtown and the sewers: Mementos 5-11

5. Repaired Polaroid

This Memento is assembled from two halves of a photograph. Take the first from Eddie's guitar case in the Grizzly Suite at Crimson Bear Motel. For the second, go to the Rabbit Hole, head behind the stage, and inspect the mirror at the dressing table. Combine the two pieces in your inventory or you will only have separate fragments rather than the completed Memento.
Bonus: speeds up the use of healing items. Consuming a Flatleaf Herb is 50% faster.

6. Smooth Stone with a Hole

A locked bird cage hangs inside The Quiet Hour. To open it, find three bird figurines: the red one at the clinic on Loomis Street, the yellow one near the movie theater entrance, and the silver one in the nest near the cliffside ladder by the trailer. Place all three figurines in the cafe cage and take the stone. One figurine by itself does nothing, so it is easier to return with the complete set.
Bonus: headshots deal 20% more damage.

7. Mended Tooth

The Quiet Hour has a back room that is easiest to reach from the Ammo Zone side. Look through the storefront and memorize the card suits on the membership advertisement: ♠ → ♥ → ♣ → ♦. Then go around the building, enter the same symbols on the rear lock, and open the passage. Search the table inside to find the tooth.
Bonus: melee weapon damage +15%. Drawback: melee weapons lose durability and break 25% faster.

8. Cat Collar

First obtain the Veterinary Clinic Key. It is inside the trunk of the car in the warehouse container near the UNION sign, which can be opened using the Crank Handle. Inside the clinic, read the list of cats and their ages to get the code 3819. The cage itself is not upstairs. Near the sewers, jump over the barrier into the water, swim left, and climb onto the platform beneath the building. Kill the dog, enter 3819 on the cage, release the cat, and pick up the collar it leaves behind.
Bonus: allows Red to perform a faster dodge roll.

9. Faceless Coin

In the sewers beneath Downtown, find the damaged wall leading into the back room of the Silver Gazette. Break through it with the sledgehammer, climb into the office, and inspect the desk at the back of the room. The Faceless Coin is there. Even if you have already opened the newspaper office from the street, check this specific back room because the item is not near the main counter.
Bonus: charged melee attacks deal 20% more damage.

10. Worn Silver Buckle

Reach the ship in the Downtown harbor. Opening its sealed hatch requires a sequence of commands from the control panel, while the clue is found in the ship manual by the Riverside docks. Activate the commands in the order Door → Release Clamp → Enable, then go inside. Defeat the multi-armed creature and search the body afterward. The buckle is in the ship compartment beyond that fight.
Bonus: melee attacks performed while sprinting deal 25% more damage.

11. Rusted Spur

Enter the sewer beneath Apartment Street through the manhole that requires the dedicated key. Near the control panel, look for a damaged wall and break it with the sledgehammer to reach the neighboring tunnels. Continue toward the ladder. The Rusted Spur lies at its base. Do not confuse this route with the passage leading to the newspaper office because they are separate sewer caches.
Bonus: ranged weapon damage +10%. Drawback: increases firearm recoil.

Sheriff's Office and Riverside: Mementos 12-15

12. Badge 0013

Inside the Sheriff's Office, reach the Cold Storage and inspect the drawer containing the drowned body. The badge is stuck in the corpse's mouth, so simply interacting with the body is not enough. First get the Crowbar from Evidence Storage, then use it on the correct spot. Take the badge and remember 0013 because the same digits are also used in one of the projector puzzles.
Bonus: the final shot before a firearm magazine becomes empty deals 25% more damage.

13. Snake Earring

This Memento is tied to Deputy Roberts. Open the cell using code 3100, listen to the recording, and continue through the next story sequence that ends in a fight against him. After the battle, do not rush farther down the corridor. Return to the body and collect the earring. This is one of the easiest boss rewards to forget after a tense encounter.
Bonus: firearm rate of fire increases by 30%.

14. Hula Figurine

In Riverside, find Dana's Auto Repair. Use the Crowbar to clear the wooden barrier blocking the rear garage. Crawl beneath the car on the left, then go to the blue vehicle and open its trunk. The miniature dancer is inside. It is particularly useful if you constantly run out of stamina before a second dodge.
Bonus: dodges consume 25% less stamina.

15. Driftwood Stake

Head to the manhole in northeastern Riverside near the Exit 13 tunnel. Open it with the Manhole Key and enter the sewer. Move left and fight through the enemies until you reach a pile of dead creatures at the end of the route. Search the bodies and take the wooden stake.
Bonus: slashing weapons deal 15% more damage.

Union Apartments, dreams, and Town Hall: Mementos 16-19

16. V Guitar Pick

Inside Union Apartments, enter the flooded basement and find the laundry room. At the far end is a damaged wall that can be broken with the sledgehammer. Enemies are waiting on the other side, so clear the room before rushing toward the pickup. Then take the guitar pick. It is especially useful for long melee combos where the final strike needs to finish off a tougher enemy.
Bonus: the final hit of a melee combo deals 30% more damage.

17. Sea Polished Glass Shard

Reach Apartment 4B in Union Apartments and turn off the water in the bathroom. After the boss fight in the flooded basement, Red wakes on the beach in a strange version of the area. As soon as you regain control, turn left and pick up the glass shard. Do not miss it. The item is not only useful as a passive bonus but also makes the long swim toward Church Hill much easier.
Bonus: swimming consumes significantly less stamina.

18. 30 Days Sober Chip

Return to Town Hall with the sledgehammer and go down to the basement near the furnace and art gallery. Find the damaged wall beside the furnace, break it, and defeat the enemies in the hidden room. Search the area and take the sobriety chip. This bonus combines particularly well with faster attacks because you can swing more often without immediately exhausting your stamina.
Bonus: melee attacks consume 30% less stamina.

19. Cracked Wrist Watch

This cache requires the Crank Handle from Church Hill. Climb to the roof of Town Hall, install it in the large clock mechanism, and set the time to roughly 10:07. Wait for the chime, then return to the third-floor corridor and pull the wall sconce. It opens a secret room containing the cracked watch. If the mechanism does not trigger, check the clock position around 10:06 to 10:08 and use the handle again.
Bonus: when Red is wounded or in critical condition, melee attacks become faster and deal 20% more damage.

Church Hill: Mementos 20-22

20. Old Corsage or Bloody Corsage

This pickup depends on your decision during the Apartment 4B dream. There, you can find an injured bird, Bloody Feathers, and Black Flesh. Combine the feathers with the flesh to create a Bird Effigy, then choose what to feed the creature in the hole: the living injured bird or the crafted effigy. Later, take the shovel from the digger's trailer in Downtown, travel to the Church Hill cemetery, and dig up the suspicious patch of ground. If you fed the creature the Bird Effigy, you receive the Old Corsage. It improves firearm handling and reduces recoil by 40%. If you fed it the Injured Bird, you receive the Bloody Corsage: +15% to all damage dealt, but also +10% damage taken. Only one variant is required for the 25-Memento collection. You do not need both.

21. Dice Pair

Reach the Funeral Home in Church Hill and enter the blood-covered storage area. Find cracks in the left wall and break through with the sledgehammer. Search the backpack in the hidden room to get the dice. This is a strong item for aggressive firearm builds, but do not equip it before a dangerous boss if you regularly take hits.
Bonus: ranged damage +20%. Drawback: incoming damage increases by 30%.

22. Damaged Compass

In Church Hill, head toward the western shore and Chuck Dock. Equip the Sea Polished Glass Shard before swimming there because it greatly reduces stamina consumption in water. Swim west until you reach the small dock, climb onto it, and break the crate. The compass is inside. Once you are back on dry land, you can immediately replace the swimming bonus with this movement effect.
Bonus: running speed increases by 20%.

Thelend Broadcasting and the finale: Mementos 23-25

23. Red Driving Glove

At Thelend Broadcasting, find the Stage 1 Key and open Stage 1. Look toward the upper-left part of the room for a ventilation grate that can be shot out. Climb through, go down the ladder, and search the prop storage area. The red glove is there.
Bonus: the charge time for charged melee attacks is reduced by 50%.

24. 8 Ball Gear Shift

This item is awarded for defeating The Driver on the Thelend Broadcasting set. In Stage 1, place the Magenta and Yellow filters into the projector so the set becomes red. This triggers the boss fight. After defeating The Driver, search the body. Do not leave the gear shift on the stage or you may need to return before the finale.
Bonus: +10 maximum stamina, +10% to all damage dealt, and -10% damage taken.

25. Polaroid Negative

The final Memento is tied to the story boss in the nightmare beyond the red door. Prepare the three Metal Spikes for the flesh tree and save before the final interaction. Defeat the enemy that appears, then search the body and the area beyond the opened passage near the phone. Pick up the negative before the final conversation with Eddie Velvet. It is required for the complete collection.
Bonus: every fired projectile has a 20% chance to pierce through the target.

Which Mementos are the best to use?

Once you unlock several slots, you can combine effects around your preferred playstyle. For ordinary exploration, defense and extra stamina are comfortable choices. Before a boss fight, you may want to switch toward speed and damage. These combinations are particularly useful:
  • Safer exploration: Corroded Iron Ball, Chipped Ceramic Bear, Hula Figurine, and Repaired Polaroid. You survive longer and heal faster.
  • Melee combat: Switchblade Cufflink, 30 Days Sober Chip, V Guitar Pick, and Mended Tooth. Watch your weapon durability because of the final item's drawback.
  • Weak Point shooting: Empty Matchstick Box, Smooth Stone with a Hole, Snake Earring, and Badge 0013. Fire rate, reload speed, and precise shots become noticeably more effective.
  • Risky maximum damage: Dice Pair and Bloody Corsage. Both increase your damage but also make incoming hits more dangerous, so this setup is best for careful play.
  • Movement and exploration: Sea Polished Glass Shard for swimming, Damaged Compass for running, and Cat Collar for dodging. There is no reason to occupy a slot with the swimming effect while exploring a dry interior.
Near the end of the game, consider the 8 Ball Gear Shift. It increases damage, reduces incoming damage, and adds stamina at the same time. It is a strong general-purpose choice, especially if you do not want to rearrange your Mementos after every encounter.

How to unlock Burden of Memories and the Live ending

Collecting the complete set unlocks Burden of Memories. There are 26 named Mementos in the game, but one always replaces another because the Old Corsage and Bloody Corsage occupy the same collection position. You therefore need 25 collected items, including either Corsage variant, the completed Repaired Polaroid, and the Polaroid Negative after the final boss. Equipment slots do not matter for this achievement. You do not need all 16 Memento Vessel Shards to complete the collection. The full set also opens the route to the Live ending. Save at the phone before the final conversation with Eddie Velvet, then spare him and return to the Outskirts. Speak to the man washing his hands by the puddle, then go to the furnace in the nearby shack. Once every Memento has been collected, you can burn the collection and complete this story route.

What to check if you are missing one or more Mementos

First open your inventory and make sure the two Polaroid halves have been combined. Then check the rewards from three important fights: the tunnel creature, Deputy Roberts, and The Driver at Thelend Broadcasting. If you forgot to loot the body, return before progressing too far into the next story area. After the final boss, remember the Polaroid Negative as well. Without it, the collection remains incomplete. If the Corsage is missing, return to the Church Hill cemetery with the shovel. Depending on your choice in Apartment 4B, only one of the two variants appears there. If you do not have the Cat Collar, inspect the cage and the spot where the rescued cat emerged in the veterinary clinic basement. Finally, do not confuse Mementos with Memento Vessel Shards, coffee-based stamina upgrades, or inventory expansions. They are tracked separately. Keep a save before the decisive conversation with Eddie so you can safely return for anything you missed.
