Cyberpunk 2077: How to Make Money Fast in 2026

Cyberpunk 2077 has a much more generous economy than it did at launch, but the best ways to earn money changed substantially after Update 2.0. Weapon prices, vendor inventories, crafting, cyberware, loot tiers, and the old Breach Protocol perks were all reworked, so many early money guides are now outdated. In Patch 2.31, the fastest legitimate route is to combine paid jobs with NCPD Scanner Hustles and sell the large amount of weapons you collect along the way. Once the one-time map activities begin to run out, replayable races and, for Phantom Liberty owners, Vehicle Contracts provide reliable repeatable income.

Sell Weapons and Unwanted Loot

Selling looted weapons is one of the simplest and most profitable money-making methods in the current game. Enemies regularly drop guns and melee weapons, and because loot tiers scale with V's level, those weapons become much more valuable later in the playthrough. Pick up expensive weapons after fights, keep anything you actually plan to use, and sell the rest at weapon vendors or Drop Points instead of leaving thousands of eddies on the ground. Clothing is less important as a money source than it was in the launch version because enemies no longer drop clothing normally after Update 2.0.

Do not blindly sell or dismantle every high-tier item. Tier 4 and Tier 5 components are useful for upgrading Iconic weapons and cyberware, so in the mid- and late game it makes sense to divide unwanted equipment between sales and disassembly depending on what you currently need. If your bank account is low, sell the weapons; if your favorite Iconic gear needs upgrades, dismantle some higher-tier drops instead. Most importantly, do not dispose of unique Iconic weapons simply because their current stats look worse, since they can be upgraded through the crafting system.

Complete Fixer Gigs

Fixer Gigs are one of the best sources of money because the game pays you for the objective while the location itself is full of loot that can be sold afterward. Most gigs are relatively short and also award XP and Street Cred, so they improve several progression systems at once instead of forcing you into a pure money grind. Clearing all gigs for a fixer can also unlock additional rewards, which makes them worth completing even after you stop worrying about basic expenses. Whenever possible, finish nearby gigs in the same district rather than crossing the entire city between individual jobs. Some gigs offer optional objectives such as remaining undetected, avoiding casualties, or completing a task in a specific way. Following those instructions can produce better outcomes or bonus rewards, so read the objective before turning every mission into an open firefight. Even when the direct payment is not enormous, the weapons dropped by a building full of gang members can be worth more than the fixer fee itself. This makes gigs particularly effective once higher-tier weapons begin appearing regularly.

Clear NCPD Scanner Hustles

NCPD Scanner Hustles remain an excellent early- and mid-game source of eddies. They are marked by blue police-related icons on the map and usually involve eliminating a small hostile group, looting evidence, or investigating an organized crime location. The activity itself provides money and progression, while the defeated enemies leave behind weapons that can immediately be converted into additional cash. Because many hustles are packed close together, clearing a district can generate a large amount of money without much travel time.

The most profitable habit is to treat the payment and the loot as one combined reward. Clear the objective, loot every valuable weapon, check containers around the crime scene, and visit a Drop Point when V approaches the carry-weight limit. NCPD activities are finite, so they are not an endless farm, but there are enough of them to finance a large part of a normal playthrough. They are also one of the best ways to earn money while simultaneously raising V's level and Street Cred.

Complete Main Jobs and Side Jobs

Story missions and Side Jobs are still an important part of the economy, although not every quest pays a huge cash reward directly. Larger quest chains frequently provide eddies, valuable equipment, Iconic weapons, vehicles, or access to new activities, so their financial value is greater than the payment shown at the end of a mission. Side Jobs also create plenty of combat opportunities, which means more weapons to sell and more components to collect. If you are playing through the game normally rather than trying to farm one location repeatedly, questing plus looting is one of the fastest ways to become rich naturally. You should also remember that saving money can be as valuable as earning it. Cyberpunk 2077 gives away many excellent weapons and vehicles through quests, so buying every attractive gun or car from a vendor is unnecessary. Free vehicles from quest chains can cover most transportation needs, while Iconic weapons found during missions can remain useful for the entire game because they are upgradeable. Spend heavily when an item actually improves your build instead of treating every vendor inventory as a shopping list.

Hack Access Points

Access Points still provide extra income in the current version of Cyberpunk 2077. Connect to a compatible terminal and complete the Breach Protocol code matrix to upload Datamine sequences, which can reward eddies, quickhack components, and sometimes quickhacks. Higher-value Access Points are particularly useful for Netrunner characters because the same interaction can improve both your finances and your quickhack collection. Whenever you encounter one naturally during a gig or Side Job, there is little reason to leave it untouched. However, the launch-era Advanced Datamine perk no longer exists. Update 2.0 removed the old Breach Protocol perk tree and rebuilt Intelligence progression, so you cannot simply invest two perk levels to double every cash payout as older guides recommend. Access Points should therefore be treated as bonus income while completing other activities rather than the best standalone money farm. For current hacking mechanics, see our Cyberpunk 2077 hacking guide.

Win Replayable Car Races

Update 2.1 added replayable street races after completing The Beast in Me questline. Race icons then appear on the map, allowing V to compete again instead of treating Claire's storyline as the end of racing content. Winning a replayable race pays 10,000 eddies and also grants an Autofixer discount, so this is one of the cleanest renewable money sources in the base game. The discount has additional value if you are still buying vehicles, because every successful race reduces a future Autofixer purchase. This method becomes more attractive after you have already finished many gigs and NCPD Scanner Hustles, since those open-world activities do not respawn indefinitely. A strong vehicle and familiarity with each course make the races relatively predictable, and there is no need to search for enemies or wait for random loot. If you enjoy driving, repeating races provides a straightforward way to keep earning cash in a late-game save. If you dislike racing, weapon sales and quest content remain more efficient because they generate several types of rewards simultaneously.

Best Money Farm with Phantom Liberty: Vehicle Contracts

Owners of Phantom Liberty gain access to repeatable Vehicle Contracts for Muamar "El Capitan" Reyes after unlocking them through Push It to the Limit. These jobs appear around Dogtown and Night City and ask V to steal a marked vehicle and deliver it under changing optional conditions. Completing a contract rewards eddies, weapons, components, mods, Skill Shards, and an Autofixer Discount Shard, making the activity one of the strongest repeatable reward loops in the expansion. Because the contracts continue spawning, they remain useful after you have exhausted the finite gigs and NCPD activities on the map.Optional objectives can affect the cash reward, particularly timed deliveries, but failing one does not normally erase the entire contract payout. Always collect the reward container at the delivery point because much of the value comes from the items inside rather than only the eddies transferred to V. The weapons can then be sold for additional money, while useful components and Skill Shards can be kept. Autofixer discounts also stack until the next vehicle purchase, so repeated contracts can eventually save enormous amounts of money on expensive cars.

Loot Dogtown Airdrops

Phantom Liberty also adds recurring Airdrops throughout Dogtown. These events periodically appear in the district and usually attract hostile groups, giving you both the contents of the drop and another pile of enemy equipment to sell. Airdrops can contain high-tier weapons, cyberware-related loot, crafting components, money shards, and other valuable items, so they are worth diverting to whenever one lands nearby. They are not as predictable as Vehicle Contracts, but together the two systems give Dogtown a renewable late-game economy that the base game's one-time map activities lack.Do not sell everything from an Airdrop immediately. High-tier components and useful equipment may be more valuable to your build than the direct sale price, especially if you are upgrading several Iconic weapons or cyberware pieces. Sell duplicate weapons and gear you do not need, then keep components and rare upgrades that would otherwise cost time to replace. This same rule applies to most late-game loot: once V is rich, components can become more valuable than another few thousand eddies.

What Is the Fastest Way to Make Money?

For a fresh playthrough, the most efficient approach is to combine activities rather than grind a single trick. Complete gigs and NCPD Scanner Hustles, loot the weapons from every encounter, and sell the surplus whenever your inventory becomes heavy. Hack Access Points that are already on your route, but do not waste time searching the entire city for terminals solely for cash. As your level rises, weapon sell prices improve, so the same combat-and-loot loop becomes progressively more profitable.
  1. Early game: clear NCPD Scanner Hustles and nearby gigs, then sell unwanted weapons.
  2. Midgame: continue fixer work and Side Jobs while selling higher-tier loot and keeping useful components.
  3. Late game without Phantom Liberty: use replayable races after The Beast in Me and sell loot from remaining activities.
  4. Late game with Phantom Liberty: rotate Vehicle Contracts, Dogtown Airdrops, gigs, and weapon sales.
Avoid old duplication glitches, vending-machine exploits, or outdated crafting loops when writing a normal progression plan. Patches have removed many of those methods over the years, and legitimate activities already provide more than enough money for cyberware, apartments, weapons, and vehicles. Update 2.0 also adjusted the prices of weapons, cyberware, clothing, apartments, and other goods, making launch-era profit calculations unreliable. In Patch 2.31, simply doing high-value content efficiently and selling the loot it produces is both safer and more profitable than building a route around an obsolete exploit.
