Steam Frame has a feature that Valve never exactly hid, but certainly did not make the centerpiece of its marketing. The headset uses four monochrome cameras and infrared illuminators for tracking and passthrough in dark environments. In practice, that turns the device into something close to improvised night-vision goggles. Steam Frame owners say they can comfortably navigate completely dark rooms while wearing the headset, even when they can barely see anything after taking it off.Owners on Reddit are already specifically praising the low-light passthrough. Obviously, this is not military-grade night vision, but it is a surprisingly cool bonus for a VR headset.
