You can increase Item Level in AION 2 by replacing weak equipment, enhancing gear, socketing Manastones and Soul Stones, spending Daevanion Crystals, and equipping and upgrading Arcana. We recommend fixing underleveled slots and taking cheap guaranteed upgrades first, then investing heavily in weapons and long-term gear. This guide explains what contributes to Item Level, how to progress after level 45, and how to reach the next dungeon thresholds without wasting resources.

What is Item Level, and how is it different from Combat Power?
Item Level is a combined progression value calculated from your equipment and several character-growth systems. It is used as an entry requirement for endgame content. It is not the same as Combat Power, which is a broader estimate of your character's overall strength. An upgrade can raise Item Level while giving stats that are less useful for your build, so always check both the content threshold you are trying to reach and the actual effect on your damage, healing, or survivability. This guide covers the AION 2 Global launch version as of October 5, 2026. Its character level cap is 45, while progression tables from later Korean updates include tiers and items that are not part of the launch environment. Do not confuse character level with the Item Level printed on individual gear. A level 45 character can wear equipment with an Item Level well above 45, and dungeon access checks your combined total rather than the level of one item.- Equipped gear: each equipped item's own Item Level contributes to the total.
- Normal enhancement: each enhancement level adds one point to that item's contribution.
- Daevanion: every Daevanion Crystal spent contributes one point. A node that costs four Crystals therefore contributes four.
- Manastones and Soul Stones: socketed stones also contribute based on their grade.
- Arcana: equipped card grade and card enhancement both contribute to your total.
Best order for increasing Item Level
- Finish the available story and claim its equipment rewards.
- Fill every unlocked equipment slot and identify the weakest pieces by Item Level.
- Claim and spend available Daevanion Crystals on useful nodes.
- Replace outdated gear and apply inexpensive early enhancement levels.
- Fill appropriate sockets with stones that provide useful stats.
- Once the relevant activities unlock, fill all Arcana slots and improve the cards you actually use.
- Only then move into expensive enhancement and deeper investment on gear you expect to keep for a long time.
Where to get gear after level 45
The main repeatable progression path runs through Expeditions and their Conquest versions. At the first tier, Krao Cave and Draupnir provide Item Level 54 gear. The next tier pairs Urugugu Canyon with Vakron Sky Island and moves to Item Level 70 rewards. The third tier combines Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den, where Item Level 86 gear becomes available.Within these pairs, weapons and standard accessories primarily come from Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, and Fire Temple. Armor and the Guard slot are associated with Draupnir, Vakron Sky Island, and Ferocious Horn Den. We recommend farming the activity that can actually replace your weakest slot rather than repeating the same dungeon regardless of its reward table. Also pay attention to cumulative reward selections because they can help you target a missing piece after a streak of bad drops. For Global Conquest, the key combined Item Level thresholds are 700, 1400, and 2100 for the three Expedition tiers. These are requirements for specific modes rather than universal restrictions on every version of the same dungeon. Before joining a group, check the exact activity name, difficulty, and any other entry conditions. Meeting the threshold only means you are allowed in. If your party repeatedly fails the encounter, improve the build and learn the mechanics instead of assuming the entry requirement is a recommended clear level. When is crafted gear worth it?
An alternative progression route is the Draconic crafting chain, which can move from a Unique item at Item Level 62 through later stages at 70, 78, 86, 94, and 102. The chain still requires dungeon materials and other components, so it does not let you skip combat progression entirely. Compare the cost of the next crafting stage with replacement options available from dungeon rewards. For a temporary upgrade, a cheap dropped item can be better value than committing to the entire crafting chain. When pushing a crafted item farther, pay attention to character binding. We recommend checking whether the base item is correct for your class and whether you genuinely expect to use the result. Being able to buy the starting piece does not mean every upgraded version remains tradeable. Read the binding warning before spending expensive components. How gear enhancement works
Normal enhancement costs Kina and Enhance Stones. The maximum enhancement level depends on the item's grade: Rare gear can reach +5, Epic gear +10, and Unique gear +15. Normal equipment enhancement steps up to +10 are guaranteed where the item's grade allows them, but that does not override the grade cap. A Rare item still stops at +5.For Unique gear, attempts from +10 to +15 can fail. The base success rates for those steps are 65%, 50%, 35%, 25%, and 20%. A failed attempt adds five percentage points to the next attempt at the same step. Materials are consumed, but normal weapons and armor keep the enhancement level already reached. Once an enhancement succeeds, the accumulated bonus chance does not carry forward to the next step.We recommend applying moderate upgrades to useful gear first and saving a reserve for replacements. Higher enhancement levels become much more expensive than the early guaranteed steps, so fully upgrading a temporary item can drain your budget quickly. Amplified Enhancement is a separate system with its own rules and requirements. Do not apply its failure rules to ordinary enhancement or vice versa. How Daevanion increases Item Level
The four main Daevanion boards unlock in sequence: Nezekan at level 12, Zikel at level 20, Vaizel at level 30, and Triniel at level 40. They share the standard Daevanion Crystal pool. At level 45, Azphel unlocks as a PvP-focused board that uses its own separate resource, so there is no reason to save normal Daevanion Crystals for it.Daevanion Crystals come from character levels, Regional Quests, and first clears of your faction's Sealed Dungeons. Additional sources include activity shops such as Nightmare and Shugo Festival shops. We recommend routing toward important skills, combat speed, and useful offensive or role-specific nodes. Spending the Crystals raises Item Level, but the path you choose determines whether those points also make the character meaningfully stronger. For a simple estimate, ten spent Daevanion Crystals add ten points to your total Item Level contribution. Do not confuse node count with Crystal cost. A four-Crystal node counts all four Crystals. Unspent Crystals in your inventory contribute nothing, so before paying for an expensive enhancement attempt, check whether you have useful Daevanion nodes waiting to be activated.Manastones, Belt, Amulet, and Runes
Manastones and Soul Stones provide stats while also contributing to Item Level. Their contribution scales by grade, with gray, green, blue, and yellow variants adding 1, 2, 3, and 4 points respectively. We recommend choosing stones whose stats actually fit your build and considering how long you expect to keep the item. An expensive stone in a piece you are about to replace can be worse value than simply upgrading the gear slot itself. The Belt, Amulet, and two Rune slots follow separate progression rules. They do not use the same standard stone sockets as normal armor, so repeating the same enhancement process does not apply. Check the reward sources and upgrade mechanics for each special slot individually. Filling an empty slot is usually a better first step than trying to compensate for it with an expensive upgrade on one already strong item. How Arcana increases Item Level
Arcana are cards that provide Pantheon stats and additional levels for normal skills. The Global launch set uses five card types: Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell, and Mirror. Base card Item Level rises by grade, with Common, Rare, Epic, and Unique cards contributing 20, 40, 60, and 80 respectively. Filling an empty Arcana slot can therefore produce a noticeable jump in your total.Arcana can be obtained from activities including Transcendence, which has its own Item Level requirements. We recommend building a functional five-card setup first and only then chasing better grades and skill rolls. Cards are developed by feeding them other Arcana or Training Arcana. Do not look only at rarity when comparing them because a bonus to an important skill can be more valuable than irrelevant lines on a higher-grade card. Each enhancement level on an equipped Arcana adds another point of Item Level. When replacing a developed card, you can feed the old card into the new one and transfer its stored EXP through absorption. Targeting specific Arcana lines requires additional resources and a substantial budget, so we recommend leaving serious optimization until you know which skills your build actually depends on.What to check when your Item Level stops increasing
- Do you still have an underleveled piece left over from the early story or an empty equipment slot?
- Are your Arcana actually equipped rather than sitting in your inventory?
- Have you spent the Daevanion Crystals available to you?
- Do useful pieces still have cheap enhancement levels available?
- Are you checking the correct dungeon mode and its actual entry requirement?
