Faith is one of the key resources in Graveyard Keeper 2, and you'll need it for further progression and story quests. You can't simply earn it through regular work. First, you'll need to advance the story, unlock the Church, and hold your first Sermon. In this guide, we'll explain how to unlock the Church, where to get your first Prayer, why Town Gratitude matters, and how to earn Faith regularly.

How to Unlock the Church

Faith is tied to a story questline, so you can't permanently miss it. Keep completing quests in town until you unlock the Nun's quest. After speaking with her, you'll be able to restore the Church. First, you'll need to clean up the interior, remove the debris, repair the damaged areas, and then raise the Church Quality.

For your first Sermon, you only need to raise the Church Quality to at least 10. The easiest way to do this is by placing a few benches and using the interior upgrades available at this stage. Once the Church has been restored, the Nun will explain how Sermons work and give you the Basic Prayer. From this point on, you'll be able to earn Faith regularly.

How Town Gratitude Works

The number of visitors and the effectiveness of your Sermon depend not only on the Church itself, but also on Town Gratitude. This value gradually increases as you complete quests. Some tasks reward you with special items that grant 5 Town Gratitude each.

You can also earn additional Town Gratitude through trading. Pay attention to goods marked with a thumbs-up icon when dealing with merchants. Selling one of these items will increase your Town Gratitude. Because of this, it's worth continuing to complete side quests and trade even after unlocking the Church. The higher your Town Gratitude, the more you'll get out of each Sermon.

How to Get Faith

To hold a Sermon, take the Basic Prayer given to you by the Nun and visit the Church on the appropriate day of the week. You can't hold a service every day. Sermons normally take place on Wrath Day, which is marked by its own symbol on the calendar, so keep an eye on the schedule and try not to miss it.Go to the lectern, select your Prayer, and begin the Sermon. Townspeople will arrive at the Church, and once the service is over, you'll receive Faith and money.

The amount you receive depends on the development of the Church, the Graveyard, and your Town Gratitude. Your first Sermon will therefore provide fairly modest rewards, but they will gradually increase as you improve these areas.

Where to Collect Money After a Sermon

Don't leave the Church immediately after the Sermon ends. The monetary reward appears separately and must be collected manually. Faith, meanwhile, is added to the corresponding resource automatically. If you hold Sermons regularly, make a habit of checking for the reward after every service so you don't accidentally leave your money behind in the Church.

How to Get More Faith

The main way to increase your Faith income is to improve the Church, the Graveyard, and Town Gratitude at the same time. Don't focus on just one of these values. Upgrade graves, increase the overall Graveyard Quality, place new furnishings inside the Church, and complete quests for the townspeople. At the same time, sell merchants items marked with the Town Gratitude icon.Eventually, you'll be able to replace the Basic Prayer with more effective Prayers, but even the first Sermon provides enough Faith to continue the early story questlines. The most important thing is to remember to visit the Church on the correct day. You can normally hold only one Sermon per week, so missing one effectively means losing an entire in-game cycle.
