Money opens up a lot of possibilities in GTA. We need it for weapons, properties, vehicle repairs, and plenty of less sensible entertainment. There are several good ways to build up cash in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and some of them are much faster than simply grinding story missions. Here are the methods worth using in the Definitive Edition.

The Fastest Way to Make Money Without Cheats: Cone Crazy

The best early-game method does not require a cheat code at all. Behind the Ocean View Hotel in Ocean Beach, find the multi-storey parking garage and drive to the roof. A parked Stallion starts the Cone Crazy challenge. The first successful run pays only $200, but there is a catch. Every time we finish with a new record, the reward doubles. That means $200 becomes $400, then $800, $1,600, and so on. By the tenth successful record, a single run pays $102,400.The trick is not to set a great time immediately. On the first attempts, collect four checkpoints and wait near the last one. Finish as late as possible, then replay the challenge and improve the record by a small amount each time. As long as every new run beats our previous best time, the payout keeps doubling. This is one of the easiest ways to become rich very early in Vice City, and unlike cheat-based methods, it does not disable achievements or trophies.

The Fastest Cheat Method in GTA: Vice City

There is no regular money cheat in GTA: Vice City. However, we can combine the Vigilante mission with the BIGBANG cheat on PC, which destroys vehicles across the map. The same destroy-all-vehicles cheat also exists on console versions, but it uses a button combination instead of a text code. Here is how the old trick works:
  1. Buy any safehouse with a garage. We need at least a few thousand dollars for one of the cheaper properties.
  2. Find a police car and park it inside the garage.
  3. Get into the police car and start a Vigilante mission.
  4. Get out of the vehicle, leave the garage, and wait for the door to close.
  5. Enter BIGBANG on PC. The target vehicle is destroyed, while our police car remains protected inside the closed garage.
  6. Open the garage, get back into the repaired police car, then repeat the process without ending the Vigilante mission.

Vigilante rewards increase as the mission level rises, so this becomes much more profitable if we keep the same run going.
Cheats disable achievements and trophies on the current save in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Definitive Edition. If we want to use this method, make a separate clean save first and do not overwrite it after activating cheats.

Complete Story Missions

This sounds obvious, but story progression is still one of the most reliable ways to build up money. Early missions do not pay much, but later jobs give substantially larger rewards and, more importantly, unlock the ability to buy businesses.Several profitable activities are unavailable until we progress through the story, so there is little reason to ignore missions while trying to earn money.

Buy Businesses and Collect Their Income

After completing Shakedown, we can start buying Assets. These businesses are not just required to progress toward the ending. Once we complete their related missions, they begin generating daily income that can be collected from the dollar icon outside. The most profitable businesses include:
  • Malibu Club: up to $10,000 per day.
  • Sunshine Autos: up to $9,000 per day after completing all four vehicle lists.
  • Print Works: up to $8,000 per day.
  • InterGlobal Studios: up to $7,000 per day.
  • Vercetti Estate: up to $5,000 per day after completing Cop Land.
  • Kaufman Cabs: up to $5,000 per day.
These properties cost money upfront, but they pay for themselves over time. We also need to complete enough Asset businesses to unlock the final part of the story, so the investment is useful either way.

Complete Side Missions and Other Activities

Vice City has several vehicle-based side jobs. We can work as a taxi driver, pizza delivery rider, paramedic, firefighter, or vigilante. Find the appropriate vehicle and start its special mission using the button shown by the game.Vigilante is especially good for money at higher levels because the rewards grow rapidly. The other activities are worth doing as well because they provide permanent bonuses in addition to cash.

Rob Pedestrians

Obviously, we are talking about Vice City here, not real life. Pedestrians drop money when killed, so attacking people can provide some quick cash at the very beginning of the game. The problem is that this method is inefficient and attracts police attention almost immediately. It works if we are desperate for a few hundred dollars, but Cone Crazy, missions, and businesses are much better once they become available.

Complete Unique Stunt Jumps

While exploring Vice City, we will occasionally find ramps designed for Unique Stunt Jumps. Successfully land one and the game rewards us with money. There are 36 Unique Stunt Jumps in total. The payout increases with every new jump we complete, starting at $100 for the first and eventually reaching $10,000 for the final jump. Completing all 36 is also required for 100% completion. They are not the fastest way to get rich, but if we are already exploring the city, there is no reason to ignore them.

That is everything you need to know about making money in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Definitive Edition. If we want a huge amount of cash as early as possible without ruining achievements, Cone Crazy is the method I would use first.
