In Prison Simulator, we play as a prison guard. We have to keep inmates under control, improve our character, and help raise the prison's rating. I have put together answers to some of the most common questions about the game. If you do not find the answer you need here, feel free to ask in the comments.

How to Make Money in Prison Simulator

We can start earning personal money almost immediately. There are several reliable ways to do it:
  1. Search prisoners and their cells. During searches, we will regularly find contraband. We can secure it for the prison, leave it alone, or sometimes take it for ourselves. If we plan to keep an item, pay attention to the blue eye icon. Another guard watching us can cost us guard respect. Taking items from an inmate's cell also lowers that inmate's respect, so there is always a trade-off.
  2. Inspect incoming parcels. Once the parcel-checking routine becomes available, we can find both legal items and contraband inside packages. We can take useful items for ourselves, but doing it too often can hurt our relationship with prisoners. Greed still has consequences, even in prison.
  3. Accept bribes from prisoners. When we try to take or secure contraband, an inmate may ask us to look the other way and offer money. Skills such as Negotiator make these deals more profitable. This is one of the easiest ways to make dirty money without having to sell anything ourselves.
  4. Take part in sports and minigames. We can bet money on activities such as weight lifting, darts, basketball, and other competitions as they become available. The weight-lifting challenge is accessible early and can provide some extra cash while we are still learning the prison.
  5. Trade with prisoners. Trading becomes available after we unlock the active skill Trust. Prisoners willing to trade are marked with an orange dollar sign. Contraband is usually more valuable than ordinary food or drinks, so it makes sense to keep useful items we find in empty cells or other places where taking them will not upset a specific prisoner.
There are actually two separate types of money in the game. Personal cash is used for our own purchases and skills, while Prison Cash is spent on facility upgrades. Do not confuse the two when planning what to buy.

How to Unlock Skills

Skills become available as we level up and progress through the opening days. Once the game introduces the skill system, head to the guard area and speak with the officer who teaches new abilities.Every skill costs at least one skill point and also requires money. Some upgrades are locked behind a higher character level. We can return to the trainer whenever we have enough cash and unused skill points.Skills are divided into active and passive upgrades. Active skills unlock or improve actions such as searching, trading, and negotiating, while passive skills improve things such as health, stamina, movement speed, and defense. If we want to start making money from inmates early, Trust is one of the most useful first purchases because it unlocks trading. Negotiator is also useful later if we plan to rely on bribes.

How to Trade With Prisoners in Prison Simulator

To trade with prisoners, first unlock the Trust skill. After that, look for inmates with an orange dollar sign above their heads. Those are the prisoners currently willing to trade.

Not every inmate will deal with us. Respect still matters, and prisoners with a better opinion of us are much easier to trade with. Each trader also has a limited amount of money and stock for the day, so if we want to make serious cash, check the available traders regularly. We can sell both ordinary items and contraband. Drugs and other illegal goods are usually worth more, but remember that taking contraband from an occupied cell can reduce that prisoner's respect. Empty cells and Death Row are much safer places to build up stock when they become available.

How to Increase Stamina and Other Character Stats

Besides skills, Prison Simulator has separate character statistics. We can improve them through activities around the prison.Stamina is increased by using the workout bench in the prison yard. This is separate from the weight-lifting betting minigame. One activity raises the character stat, while the other is mainly used to win money.Other stats have their own activities:
  • Stamina is trained at the workout bench in the yard.
  • Speed can be improved through the timed package-delivery activity for prison officers.
  • Strength and Defense are trained through special sparring activities in the yard. Look for the relevant icons near the basketball court.
Many of these activities are best done during Free Time. Some are only available at certain moments of the day, so if an activity is missing, continue with the daily routine and check again later.

How to Make Prisoners Work in Prison Simulator

During routines such as the Workshop, we first need to select the inmates we want to move. On the default PC controls, press 2, approach the required prisoners, and select them with LMB.Once the group is ready, hold Tab to open the command wheel and choose Follow Me. Lead the inmates to the required location. When we want them to stop or gather, open the command wheel again and choose the appropriate order.During the Workshop routine, remember to hand out tools before expecting anyone to work. When the shift ends, collect the tools, search the prisoners, and then order them to follow us back to the cell block.

How to Increase the Prison Rating

As we progress, the warden gives us access to the computer in his office. This is where we can spend Prison Cash on new furniture, equipment, cells, Workshop stations, and other facility upgrades. The prison's income and overall rating are closely connected to the number of inmates and their respect. A larger prison can earn more passive Prison Cash, but only if we keep prisoner respect under control.A useful early strategy is to improve inmate living conditions and expand carefully instead of buying everything at once. Workshop upgrades are also valuable because longer and more productive Workshop routines generate additional money for the prison.

Where to Find the Second Fuse in Prison Simulator

During the story mission Power Outage, the entire prison loses electricity and we have to restore it. First head toward the main entrance and deal with the escaping prisoner. After that, the game sends us to find the missing fuse.Unlike many quest items, the fuse does not have one fixed location. It can spawn randomly in one of three places:
  • Infirmary. Check the floor near the desk.
  • Workshop. Look on the floor between one of the wood piles and the supply cabinets.
  • Canteen. Search the floor between the tables.
If the fuse is not in the first room we check, simply visit the other two locations. Once we pick it up, return to the electrical panel and restore the power.
That is everything you need to know about making money, unlocking skills, improving stamina and other stats, trading with prisoners, raising the prison rating, and finding the missing fuse in Prison Simulator.
