Medieval Dynasty from Render Cube is a survival RPG and settlement-building game set in the Middle Ages. You gather resources, hunt, farm, build a village, recruit inhabitants, and eventually create a dynasty that can survive for generations. The game left Early Access on September 23, 2021, so many mechanics described in old guides have changed significantly. This FAQ has been updated for the current 2026 version of Medieval Dynasty and covers the most common early-game questions.

How to Craft an Axe in Medieval Dynasty

The Stone Axe is one of the first tools you should craft. You need it to cut down trees and turn them into Logs, which are required for houses, production buildings, tools, and many other structures. To craft a Stone Axe, collect:[b3]
  • 10 Sticks.
  • 2 Stones.
[/b1]Sticks are easy to find on the ground and can also be collected from small trees and bushes.

Stones are slightly harder to spot. Look near roads, riverbanks, rocky terrain, and around villages. Later, you can obtain much larger quantities from rock deposits.

Where to Find Straw in Medieval Dynasty

The easiest source of Straw at the beginning of the game is Reeds. They grow along rivers and lake shores and can be collected by hand throughout the year.

Large patches of Reeds can be found along many waterways, so you do not need to search for one specific location.

Old versions of this guide claimed that Straw could not be obtained from farming, but that is no longer true. Once you have a Barn, threshing Oat, Rye, or Wheat produces Straw as a by-product. This eventually becomes a much more convenient source than running along the river and collecting Reeds manually.

How to Find Foxes in Medieval Dynasty

Foxes are small, skittish animals that normally run away when you approach them. They can be found in several forest habitats rather than at one guaranteed spawn next to your first settlement.

On the Valley map, the easiest way to locate them reliably is to buy information about fox habitats from hunter vendors. Gizela in Lesnica and Rajmund in Tutki can reveal fox locations on your map for 750 Coins. If you already know a habitat, travel there and search the surrounding forest. Foxes are easier to hunt with a bow because they tend to flee as soon as they notice you.

The Tracker skill also helps with hunting. When Inspector Mode is active, wild animals are highlighted, making them much easier to spot in dense vegetation.

How to Make Money in Medieval Dynasty

The economy has been rebalanced several times since Early Access. Old methods based on collecting hundreds of Sticks, Berries, or Stone Knives and selling them for large profits are no longer nearly as effective. There are several better ways to make money in the current game.
  • Explore abandoned camps, carts, ruins, and other points of interest. Sell equipment and valuables you do not need. This is one of the fastest ways to get your first meaningful amount of money without investing in production.
  • Hunt animals and process the resources. Cook surplus Meat and sell unnecessary Leather and Fur. Crafted products are usually more valuable than raw materials.
  • Grow Flax. Once farming is established, Flax is one of the strongest foundations for a profitable settlement. Process Flax Stalk into Linen Thread and Linen Fabric, then sell surplus seeds or crafted clothing.
  • Mine and craft metal tools. Copper, Bronze, and later Iron equipment can become an excellent source of income once you have access to the relevant technology and buildings.
  • Use Market Stalls later in the game. They let villagers sell selected products automatically instead of forcing you to visit merchants every time your storage fills up.
Stone Knives can still be useful for earning your first few Coins because they require only Sticks and Stones, but do not build your entire economy around them. Their profitability was heavily reduced compared with older versions.Merchant prices also depend on your Diplomacy skills, so exact buy and sell values may differ from one character to another. To trade, speak with a merchant and choose the trading dialogue option.

There is one important limitation that older versions of this guide missed: you cannot destroy only part of a field. The entire field is removed at once. If you want to resize or move it, destroy the old field and create a new one in the desired location. The same Destroy mode can also be used on many building components and structures.

How to Get a Bow in Medieval Dynasty

There are several types of bows in Medieval Dynasty, including the basic Bow, Longbow, and Recurve Bow.Old guides sometimes recommend stealing a bow from a Hunting Lodge near Branica or buying one from Sambor. Those instructions are outdated. Sambor no longer sells hunting equipment. After completing his personal questline, he mainly sells wooden animal figurines. The safest early-game option is to buy a bow from a hunter vendor. On the Valley map, Gizela in Lesnica and Rajmund in Tutki sell bows and hunting supplies.

The basic Bow is cheaper than the more advanced versions, while the Longbow and Recurve Bow become better choices once you have more money and technology. You can also craft a Bow yourself. The scheme becomes available at 50 Survival Technology points and costs 100 Coins to unlock. It can be crafted at a Hunting Lodge or Smithy from:
  • 1 Log.
  • 1 Linen Thread.
Linen Thread is produced from Flax Stalk at the Spinning Wheel in a Sewing Hut, so buying your first bow is often faster than crafting one immediately.

Where to Get Arrows and How to Find Feathers in Medieval Dynasty

Arrows can be bought from hunter and blacksmith vendors or crafted once you unlock the appropriate scheme. The basic Stone Arrow scheme becomes available at 50 Survival Technology points and costs 50 Coins. Stone Arrows are crafted in stacks of 10.To craft 10 Stone Arrows, you need:
  • 10 Sticks.
  • 2 Stones.
  • 10 Feathers.
This is very different from old Early Access recipes that required materials for batches of 50 arrows.

Feathers can be obtained in several ways. When you cut down trees and remove their branches, feathers can be added to your inventory. You can also obtain them from Bird Traps. The Bird Trap unlocks at 50 Survival Technology points. Its scheme costs 80 Coins, and crafting one requires:
  • 2 Sticks.
  • 2 Stones.
Each Bird Trap can be used three times before it breaks.Later, villagers working in hunting and animal husbandry can provide a steady supply of Feathers, especially once you establish poultry production.

The Survival Sense skill makes Feathers, Mushrooms, and Herbs visible in Inspector Mode. With the default PC controls, hold Left Alt to activate Inspector Mode.

The most important thing to remember is that Medieval Dynasty has changed substantially since its Early Access years. Reeds are no longer your only practical source of Straw, Sambor is no longer the place to buy bows, fields are removed as complete plots, and the old money-making exploits and arrow recipes should not be treated as current advice.
