Final Fantasy Resonance brings the series back to pixel-art heroes and turn-based combat, but there are a few practical questions worth answering before you buy. When does the game unlock? What does the Deluxe Edition offer over the standard version? What kind of PC will you need, and does it use Denuvo? We've gathered the details on the launch, bonuses, supported languages, and a free demo that can help you decide whether to pick it up.

What Is Final Fantasy Resonance?

It's a single-player RPG from Square Enix and Lancarse based on the first story arc of the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The developers have reworked the source material into a full adventure for consoles and PC. Visually, Resonance follows the HD-2D approach, combining pixel-art characters with three-dimensional environments and a dynamic camera. If you're a fan of classic Final Fantasy games, the combat system and party mechanics are the first things to look at.Battles are turn-based, with the action order clearly displayed. You'll exploit enemy weaknesses, wear down their stagger gauges, and pick the right moments for powerful attacks. You can also expand your party's capabilities with Visions, representations of familiar Final Fantasy characters who bring their own abilities. There is no announced co-op campaign. This is a single-player game.

Final Fantasy Resonance Release Date and Platforms

The main release date is October 22, 2026. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The PC versions are available through Steam and the Microsoft Store. PS4 and Xbox One are not among the supported platforms. There's a regional caveat for Steam. The store page lists October 22, while Square Enix's Japanese website gives October 23 for the Steam version. Check the unlock countdown in your own store before pre-ordering. You shouldn't apply the Japanese date to every region or assume a single launch time across all platforms. If you want to play the moment it unlocks, follow the countdown attached to your purchase.

Final Fantasy Resonance Price and Editions: Which Should You Buy?

In US digital stores, the Standard Edition costs $49.99, while Digital Deluxe costs $59.99. These are US prices, so availability and pricing may differ in other regions. The standard version is enough to play through the game. Paying extra for Deluxe gets you a bundle of items, while the Collector's Edition adds physical collectibles.

Standard Edition

This includes the base game. Pre-order and early-purchase bonuses depend on when you buy it, so don't confuse them with Deluxe Edition benefits. If you're here for the story, battles, and exploration, we'd recommend starting with the standard version. Judge the more expensive package separately based on whether you actually want the items it includes.

Digital Deluxe Edition

Alongside the game, this edition includes the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. Its main additions are a magitek-themed chocobo appearance and a grimoire that unlocks a special Fel Meteor attack for one character. The bundle also contains a ring and some starter consumables. In other words, one of its extras is an actual combat ability, not just a cosmetic change. We'd recommend Deluxe if you want those extras and don't mind paying another $10 at US prices. A Deluxe upgrade is also sold separately. If you go that route, compare the total cost of both purchases against the complete edition. Don't buy the same pack twice if it's already included in your version.

Collector's Edition

The package includes a physical Standard Edition, a Deluxe upgrade code, and a box of collectibles:
  • Acrylic blocks featuring pixel-art illustrations.
  • A 120-page artbook.
  • A four-CD soundtrack containing 120 tracks.
  • A Final Fantasy Trading Card Game promo card featuring Dark Fina.
Before ordering, check the selected platform and everything included in the package. Square Enix also sells the Collector's Goods Box separately, without the game. It's an option if you've already bought a digital copy, but it does not give you access to Resonance on its own. Remember to account for shipping, too. Whether the box arrives on launch day depends on the retailer and carrier.

Pre-Order and Early-Purchase Bonuses

Pre-ordering gets you the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack, which includes a magitek appearance for your airship, a greatsword, a chestplate that increases experience gained, and some starter items. This bundle is tied to buying before release. If you're placing an order at the last minute, make sure the bonus is still listed in the retailer's offer. There's also a separate Squire Kickstart Pack for early purchases. It contains a cuirass that boosts gil earned and an Ether. On PlayStation and Nintendo, the listed deadline is November 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM local time. Steam lists November 6 at 8:59 AM Pacific Time. Check the cutoff in your own store. Those are platform-specific terms, not one universal deadline for everyone. You can claim the bonus items once you've progressed through the opening section, using the postbox in front of the inn in the Town of Mitra. If they aren't in your inventory as soon as you launch the game, keep playing until you reach that location. The keys included in the bundles let you change the appearance of your airship or chocobo through the Items menu.

Final Fantasy Resonance PC System Requirements

Both configurations require 64-bit Windows 11, 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, and 15 GB of free storage. The minimum setup targets 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings, while the recommended setup targets 1080p at 60 FPS on maximum settings. Here are the CPUs and graphics cards listed on Steam.

Minimum Requirements: 1080p, 30 FPS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2300X or Intel Core i3-8100.
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6400, Intel Arc A580, or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650.
  • Graphics settings: Low.

Recommended Requirements: 1080p, 60 FPS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2500X or Intel Core i3-8100.
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT, Intel Arc A580, or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650.
  • Graphics settings: Maximum.
Some components appear in both lists. That's how the publisher specifies them. If your PC is close to the minimum, download the demo first and find settings that feel comfortable. The listed requirements describe performance targets, while your actual results will depend on the complete system. The store page does not provide separate official configurations for 1440p or 4K.

Does Final Fantasy Resonance Have Denuvo?

Yes, the PC version uses Denuvo Anti-Tamper. This is explicitly disclosed on Steam and in Square Enix's official documentation. An internet connection is required for license verification. If you plan to play while traveling, install the game and complete the check in advance while you still have a connection. That said, the document doesn't guarantee unlimited offline play after the first launch. It doesn't disclose the exact interval between subsequent checks or an activation limit. No Denuvo removal date has been announced, either. If this protection matters to your decision, take it into account when choosing the PC version. Any conclusions about its performance impact would require separate testing.

Will Final Fantasy Resonance Have Russian Localization?

Russian isn't among the languages supported on Steam. English and Japanese include voice acting, while the other listed languages offer interface text and subtitles. If you're mainly interested in the story, consider how comfortable you'll be reading dialogue in one of the available languages. The demo lets you check that before buying.
Don't assume a fan translation will be ready at launch. Official Russian localization hasn't been announced. If you're buying a console version, also check the language list for your store region. Available translations may differ between platforms.

Is There a Demo, and Does Progress Carry Over?

A free demo is already available, including on PS5 and Steam. It lets you play through the first chapter and try the combat before buying. Square Enix has specifically confirmed that PS5 demo saves carry over to the full game. Check the transfer rules for other platforms before continuing there. That PS5 confirmation doesn't imply you can transfer saves between different ecosystems.
We'd recommend starting with the demo, especially if you're unsure about the pace of turn-based combat or how well the game runs on your PC. Play a few battles, experiment with party members and abilities, and read some of the dialogue. You'll be in a much better position to decide whether the game suits you and whether Deluxe is worth the extra money. Before paying, double-check the platform, language options, bonuses included in your offer, and Denuvo requirements on PC.
