Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Sells 1 Million Copies in Its First Week

The first numbered Ace Combat in seven years launched worldwide on October 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco Entertainment officially confirmed that the game reached one million units at the fastest pace in the franchise's 30-year history. For comparison, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, released in 2019, took longer to reach its first million and has since sold more than 7.5 million copies worldwide. Wings of Theve has therefore set a new launch-speed record for the series. The result is especially notable for a long-running flight-combat franchise that sits outside the biggest mainstream genres. Ace Combat 8 has shown that the series can still expand its audience even in a crowded release season.
