Patch 1.2.0.0 went live on October 6. In PvE Zone, the Expansions Hub now offers Rouble bundles bought with TarCoin, with the available packages reportedly ranging from 5 million to 250 million Roubles. The option applies only to the PvE character and does not transfer purchased Roubles into PvP or Seasonal profiles. Battlestate Games has positioned TarCoin as a broader account currency used through the Expansions Hub, while the new patch also makes it earnable through PvE Prestige and the Operator side of EXFIL Brothers.Image unavailableThat distinction matters because TarCoin is not exclusively a cash-shop currency. Players can obtain it through gameplay, but it can also be purchased directly, which means someone who wants to skip the Rouble grind in PvE now has an official paid shortcut. The system is currently restricted to PvE. There is no announcement that purchasable Rouble bundles are coming to PvP, so concerns about that possibility remain community speculation rather than a confirmed plan. The same update introduced six PvE Prestige levels. Each Prestige resets only PvE profile progression and comes with permanent rewards. Players can retain selected gear, a percentage of character skills, and weapon mastery, with retained progression reaching up to 50% in some categories. Prestige rewards include TarCoins and unique account unlocks, while several special rewards earned through PvE Prestige become available across multiple game modes.Patch 1.2.0.0 also launched the EXFIL Brothers program. An experienced player becomes an Operator if the account is more than seven days old and has reached level 30 in any Escape from Tarkov mode. A new player can join as a Candidate through the Operator's referral link. When the pair raids together, both receive a 5% XP bonus, while Candidate progression unlocks additional rewards for both sides. The official reward list includes support kits, Roubles, Dollars, cases, and unique cosmetics for Candidates. Operators can earn TarCoins, Bitcoins, unique cases, Hideout cosmetics, apparel, and other rewards tied to each Candidate's progress.Community reaction to the new Rouble purchases has been predictably divided. Some players argue that third-party RMT already existed and that Battlestate is simply bringing part of that demand into an official system. Others see the feature as a dangerous precedent and worry that direct currency sales could eventually spread to competitive profiles. For now, however, the paid shortcut remains a PvE-only mechanic.
