Castlevania: Belmont's Curse has fast travel, and it works through Mirrors of Life and the Ferryman's Wharfs. If you haven't figured out how to unlock fast travel between locations yet, we'll explain where to find the Ferryman, how to select destinations, and how to unlock all available travel routes.

How to Fast Travel Using Mirrors of Life

A Mirror of Life is a save point between two hooded statues. Interacting with it restores your health and refills your potions. But it has another, less obvious purpose: giving you access to a network of fast travel points. Here's how to travel between mirrors:
  • Find and activate at least two Mirrors of Life.
  • Stand directly in front of an activated mirror.
  • Hold down to make Rose kneel. With the default keyboard controls, press S.
  • Don't release the button immediately. Wait until you're transported to the Hall of Mirrors.
  • Read the location names beside the available mirrors and find the room you want.
  • Kneel in front of your chosen mirror and wait to be transported.
Interacting with a mirror and traveling through it are two different actions. The interact button at a Mirror of Life saves your progress and restores your health. To travel, you need to kneel in front of it and hold down. Apparently, the castle expects its visitors to show a little respect first.Activate new mirrors even when you're at full health. They'll give you convenient places to return to when you want to revisit chests or passages you couldn't access earlier.

Why You Can't Travel to Every Area Right Away

The Hall of Mirrors has several floors connected to different regions. At first, travel between floors is restricted. You can use the mirrors in your current area, but not those across the entire game world. That doesn't mean you've missed a button for selecting another region. Use the Ferryman for longer journeys, then enter a mirror once you've arrived and choose the room you need.A Mirror of Life you haven't discovered won't appear as an available destination either. You'll have to reach it normally and activate it first.

Where to Find the Ferryman and Unlock Wharfs

You'll first encounter the Ferryman after your initial fight with Death in the Catacombs of Paris. Following the story sequence, you'll find yourself at the bottom of the Collapsed Path of Orpheus.Climb past the traps toward the upper part of the area. Near the room with three skull-filled braziers, take the exit to the right and look for a glowing blue door. The wharf is behind it.Talk to the Ferryman, then interact with the altar in front of him. A list of destinations will appear. Select an area and confirm the journey. After your first encounter, you can travel to Paris Streets and Holy Innocents' Cemetery. Other wharfs unlock as you visit them. Keep an eye out for similar blue doors while exploring. On the map, a wharf is marked with a blue lantern. You can't summon the boat from just any room. You need to reach a Ferryman's Wharf before setting off. Unfortunately, the Ferryman won't pick you up outside a locked door on the other side of the map.

How to Return to Missed Items Faster

The easiest approach is to combine both methods. For example, if you're exploring the Clock Tower but left an item in Paris Streets, first reach a wharf and take the boat to Paris. Then use a local Mirror of Life to get closer to the area you need. For a short trip within a region you've already explored, you usually won't need the boat. Traveling through the mirrors saves you an unnecessary detour. After unlocking a new ability, open the map and check the markers you've placed. Choose the closest available fast travel point and cover the remaining distance on foot. This is particularly useful after obtaining the downward smash, aerial dash, and double jump, when previously blocked routes start opening up.

What to Do if Fast Travel Isn't Working

  • Rose kneels but nothing happens. Stand directly in front of the mirror and hold down for a few seconds. A quick tap won't trigger the transition.
  • The room you need isn't listed. Check whether you've visited and activated its Mirror of Life.
  • You can't reach another floor in the Hall of Mirrors. Use the Ferryman to change regions, then travel through a local mirror.
  • The wharf you need isn't available. Most destinations are added after you first visit their corresponding blue doors.
  • You've only just started the game. Keep following the story until your first encounters with Death and the Ferryman. Don't try to unlock the entire travel network at your first save point.
