In Deskrawl: Idle ARPG, your character does most of the fighting while you take care of other things. There is one catch, however. A build that tears through the first groups of monsters can spend forever dying to the next boss. This guide explains which of the four classes to choose, which abilities to put into automatic combat, and where to invest talent points so your hero actually keeps progressing instead of just swinging a weapon dramatically at the bottom of your desktop.

Deskrawl class tier list: Which class should you choose in October 2026?
If you are starting the game for the first time and do not want to micromanage every fight, pick the Warrior. It combines defense, area attacks, and several viable progression paths. Sorcerer demands more attention to Mana but clears groups extremely well. Hunter is particularly interesting for bosses. Monk is not weak, but its best combinations become more convincing after you unlock additional abilities and runes.- S tier - Warrior. The safest starting class, with high survivability and strong options for unattended farming and difficult stages.
- A tier - Sorcerer. Excellent group clearing and several elemental builds, but you need to watch resources and defense more carefully.
- A tier - Hunter. Strong ranged combat, Poison, and high single-target damage. Especially interesting after the buffs in patch 1.0.2.
- B tier - Monk. More demanding progression, but strong late-game options for survivability, Dodge, and rune-based combinations.
Best classes by activity
- For a first playthrough and long unattended farming sessions: Warrior.
- For quickly clearing large groups: Sorcerer or a Warrior using Whirlwind.
- For bosses and ranged combat: Hunter with Poison or Rapid Fire.
- For control and a Cold build: Sorcerer.
- For Dodge, fast attacks, and more specialized abilities: Monk.
How character builds work
You cannot simply equip the four strongest abilities from a list in Deskrawl. A character has four slots: one Basic Attack, one Strong Attack, and two Special abilities. Each class has 14 abilities in total, unlocked as you gain levels. A good build therefore depends on how well those four abilities reinforce one another and whether you can sustain their Mana costs during longer fights. The talent tree also opens gradually. New rows become available after you spend a certain number of points, while at 10, 30, and 60 points spent you must choose one of several capstone talents. You cannot take every alternative at once. Do not copy a Level 70 build onto a hero who has only reached Level 20 because half of its mechanics will still be locked.Warrior: Best class for beginners and reliable farming
Warrior scales with Strength and forgives early progression mistakes better than the other classes. It has defensive abilities, area attacks, and talents that increase damage against weakened targets. You do not need to chase a Legendary weapon immediately. First make sure you have reliable Mana generation and enough Health, then start pushing Critical Hit stats.Best all-around Warrior build
- Basic Attack: Valiant Strike, available from Level 1. Useful for Mana generation and Vulnerable-based builds.
- Strong Attack: Half Moon Slash, unlocked at Level 20. For mass farming after Level 35, you can also try Whirlwind.
- Special Ability 1: Rage Shout, unlocked at Level 10. It helps increase your attack tempo.
- Special Ability 2: Rage Shield, unlocked at Level 15 if your hero dies too often. After Level 30, compare it with Earthstrike for a more aggressive setup.
Which Warrior talents should you level?
Start with Strength, survivability, and Critical Hit Chance. Among the early talents, pay attention to Cleaving Rage, which raises Attack Speed from using your Basic Attack, and the Valiant Strike upgrade that increases the chance to apply Vulnerable. Weakness Mastery is useful for builds focused on Vulnerable enemies, but it appears on a later row of the tree.Choose your first capstone according to your build. Heavy Blow works well for critical Strong Attacks and Vulnerable, while Focused Technique increases Basic Attack damage at the cost of reducing the Mana gained from those attacks. A separate Thorns build uses Vicious Thorns, allowing reflected damage to crit. Do not invest in all three concepts at once because they compete for the same choice on that capstone row.Best Warrior runes and gear
In the late game, look at the Harvest Moon set if Half Moon Slash remains your main source of damage. Four pieces provide useful bonuses after hits, while six change the blades so they begin hunting enemies. After the 1.0.1 fixes, those blades deal the intended full Half Moon Slash damage instead of the previously reduced amount. If you want Whirlwind to sit at the center of the build, consider Eye of the Storm. For survivability there is Strong Shield of the Atheron, while Weight of the Mountain supports an Earthstrike-focused setup. On ordinary gear, prioritize Strength, Health, useful defensive stats, Physical Damage, and modifiers that directly support your chosen attack.Sorcerer: Best choice for large-area spell damage
Sorcerer scales with Intelligence and has Fire, Cold, and Lightning abilities. It is comfortable to leave farming regular enemies while spells hit targets from range. But if your Mana runs out before the first group dies, the fireworks do not matter. Pay attention to resource recovery rather than only the damage number shown in the tooltip.Cold build for comfortable leveling
- Basic Attack: Ice Shards, available from Level 15.
- Strong Attack: Ice Meteor, unlocked at Level 20.
- Special Ability 1: Ice Nova, unlocked at Level 10.
- Special Ability 2: Ice Block, available from Level 25 if you need more survivability. Until then, use Fire Elemental, unlocked at Level 15.
Lightning build for fast farming
After Level 30, you can switch the Basic Attack slot to Electrocute. At Level 35, Lightning Storm becomes the main Strong Attack for this version. Ice Block works well as one of the Special abilities for defense, while Lightning Cloud becomes available from Level 45. This gives you an offensive rotation while preserving a way to survive a bad fight. The main late-game goal is Storm Conduit. After spending 60 points in the talent tree, this capstone gives Electrocute a 30% chance to additionally cast Lightning Storm. The corresponding Stormcaller rune set improves Lightning damage and extra electrical effects. This build comes online later than the Cold version for a new player, so there is no reason to force it at Level 10.Hunter: Strong build for bosses and ranged combat
Hunter scales with Dexterity, attacks from range, and can weaken enemies with Poison and traps. September tier lists often ranked the class fairly low, but the developers have since significantly increased the damage of several shots, improved Rapid Fire, and buffed Poison abilities. In 1.0.2, traps became more convenient thanks to updated cast ranges, while Frost Trap was replaced entirely by the new Arcane Trap.Hunter Poison build
- Basic Attack: Poison Shot, available from Level 1 and still the foundation of the specialization.
- Strong Attack: Steady Shot, available from Level 5. At Level 50, compare it with Venom Bolt, which applies additional Poisoned stacks.
- Special Ability 1: Shockwave, available from Level 15. After Level 40, you can switch to Phantom Form.
- Special Ability 2: Flare, available from Level 25. Before that, use Poison Trap, unlocked at Level 10.
Hunter talents and runes
For early progression, Dexterity, Attack Speed, and range are useful. As more of the tree opens, invest in Venom Lore, which increases damage against Poisoned enemies, and Deadly Toxin, which strengthens Poison itself and its duration. Later, Critical Injection applies additional Poisoned stacks from critical hits. For Poison, look at the Venomfang set. Four pieces slow Poisoned enemies, while the full set can fire an extra venom projectile after Poison Shot. If you prefer a constant stream of arrows instead of damage over time, look for Deadeye's Resolve and equip Rapid Fire from Level 35. Its full set improves the speed, piercing, and damage of that attack. This is a separate build rather than a mandatory addition to the Poison setup. At 60 points spent, Lone Hunter becomes especially interesting. While no enemies are within range, it grants 80% Attack Speed, 120% Bonus All Damage, and 150% Strong Attack Damage. The distance requirement matters, however. If enemies are already standing next to you, the talent loses its value. Keep that in mind before moving into maps where enemies close the gap quickly.Monk: Build around fast attacks, Dodge, and spirits
Monk also scales with Dexterity, but fights at close range. It combines Physical attacks, spirit abilities, and defensive play built around Dodge. Early on, the class may feel weaker than Warrior, but once additional Special abilities unlock, you gain combinations built around summons, healing, and extra attacks.Monk leveling and farming build
- Basic Attack: Threefold Strike from Level 1. At Level 15, try Furious Fist, which becomes especially important for the late-game Hundred Hands set.
- Strong Attack: Sacred Judgment from Level 5. From Level 20, Piercing Lunge is useful for hitting through enemies. Golden Palms unlocks at Level 50.
- Special Ability 1: Sacred Orbs, available from Level 10.
- Special Ability 2: Spirit Stream from Level 15. After Level 30, compare it with Spirit Twin.
Monk talents and rune sets
Useful early stats include Dexterity, Dodge, and survivability. Your first capstone can go into Chain Force. After the 1.0.1 fix, every third Basic Attack deals 100% additional direct damage. The alternative Mirror Steps increases Physical Damage after a successful Dodge. The better choice depends on how often your hero actually dodges during real combat rather than how good the mechanic looks on paper. For a Furious Fist + Golden Palms setup, look toward the Hundred Hands set. In version 1.0.2, its full bonus became more interesting: extra Golden Palms triggered by Furious Fist now inflict Dazed and scale with your current Mana. Alternatives include Wheel of Nine Heavens for Sacred Orbs or Serpent's Tongue for Piercing Lunge. For late-game survival, also consider Iron Constitution. After update 1.0.2, it became significantly stronger when preventing a lethal hit. This is one possible late-game capstone, however, not a permanent passive effect that every Monk automatically receives. How to level faster without ruining your build
None of the four classes benefits from a random pile of visually impressive items. Every good build needs a main attack, a source of Mana, a way to survive an unexpected hit, and several stats that specifically support the selected abilities. Follow a simple progression order. It works both for regular play and long automatic farming sessions.- Before Level 15, learn how your Basic and Strong Attacks work. Check whether your hero spends Mana faster than it is restored, and unlock the first Special abilities.
- From Levels 15 to 30, choose your main specialization. Warrior can focus on area attacks or Vulnerable, Sorcerer can use Fire before transitioning into Cold, Hunter can build around Poison, and Monk can focus on frequent Basic Attacks or spirit abilities.
- After Level 30, start comparing alternative attacks and your second capstone. Do not look only at single-hit damage. Consider cooldowns, Mana consumption, and the time between enemy groups.
- After Level 40, gradually collect runes that support your main ability, but do not break a functioning build just to equip one rare rune with no synergy.
- At Levels 60 to 70, decide on your late-game capstone and specialization for difficult challenges. The hero level cap is 70. After that, character progression continues through the advancement system.
Which stats should you look for on gear?
Your primary stat is a good starting point: Strength for Warrior, Intelligence for Sorcerer, and Dexterity for Hunter and Monk. But that alone does not make an item better. Compare it with bonuses to your chosen damage types, Attack Speed, Critical Hits, Mana recovery, and survivability. A Poison Hunter has no reason to chase Cold bonuses, while an Ice Shards Sorcerer should not invest everything into Fire.Do not forget about minions. Captured enemies can transport loot, grant useful passive bonuses, or help in combat. Choose a companion that addresses a weakness in your build. If your hero already kills enemies quickly but dies often, extra defense may provide more value than a small damage increase. When should you collect rune sets and upgrade gear?
Sets with two-piece, four-piece, and six-piece bonuses are a late-game goal. According to the game's progression systems, runes begin dropping from sufficiently high-level bosses, while set runes are tied to Inferno difficulty. Telling a character who is still progressing through the normal campaign to "equip a full set" is not useful. First make the build work with the items you can actually obtain.Updates 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 added new Legendary runes, gear upgrades beyond +10, and rune transmutation at Alchemists. Nine runes of the same rarity can be combined into another rune, but the result depends on the category and does not always increase rarity. Do not sacrifice your last useful runes to a random transmutation if they are already supporting your main ability.Common mistakes when choosing a class and talents
- "I picked an S-tier class but still cannot beat the boss." A tier list measures overall convenience, not an automatic win with any gear. Check resistances, Mana consumption, and whether an area attack should be replaced by something better against one target.
- "I cannot equip every ability from the guide." Your hero only has four slots with fixed types. You cannot use two Strong Attacks at the same time. Choose one for farming or one for bosses.
- "The talent will not unlock." Check how many points you have already spent. Access to later rows depends on invested points, while capstone rows require you to choose only one option.
- "The skill works differently in a video." Check the publication date. The October patches reworked Cold abilities, Poison, traps, several rune sets, and Monk's Chain Force effect.
- "My DPS went up, but farming became slower." Measure more than burst damage. Look at XP over a long session, deaths, restarts, and time spent moving between enemy spawns.
Which class should you choose in the end?
We would start with Warrior if your main goal is to learn Deskrawl's systems without unnecessary friction. If you already know what you want from a character, pick the matching specialization immediately. None of the four classes is inherently weak. Keep an especially close eye on balance changes, however, because the developers adjust abilities often enough that an old tier list can become outdated within only a couple of patches.Sign in to leave a comment or rate this post.
