The Biological Research Institute in Honkai: Star Rail contains ten hidden Nameless Ephemerals. Some can be spotted in ordinary exploration areas on walls, windows, and beside familiar landmarks, but several are hidden inside 2D Jump challenges. There you will need to shoot balloons, backtrack against the expected route, find hidden passages, and even solve a looping corridor by doing the opposite of what the minigame suggests.
This guide follows a convenient route from the Ephemeral Eco-Park to the Central Module. Collect all ten to receive 30 Stellar Jades and 100 Utopia Coins, while also making the Starpath Rabbit activity easier.
What to do before searching for the Nameless Ephemerals
Before starting, we recommend completing the story chapter Dance with the Beast Until Moonrise. After that, the Biological Research Institute is much easier to explore, and you will not need to return later because a route is still blocked by story progress. The most convenient route starts at the Ephemeral Eco-Park and gradually moves toward the factory section of the complex. Two Ephemerals near the Production Workshop are inside the same 2D Jump challenge, so collect them one after another without leaving after the first.
Ephemeral Eco-Park and the eastern side of the Institute
1. Demon Star - inside a balloon
Start at the Ephemeral Eco-Park Space Anchor. Turn around from the teleport point and enter the nearby 2D Jump. Inside, press the yellow button to start the balloon-shooting section.Do not shoot the first balloon you see. Wait for the one containing the Ephemeral and hit it with an arrow. The Demon Star can then be collected, after which you can return to the normal exploration area.
2. Retreat Star - beside the easel
From the Ephemeral Eco-Park, head slightly east. You will pass an easel, which is the easiest landmark. The Ephemeral is not on the easel itself but on the wall beside it.There is no separate minigame here. Walk up and interact with the Retreat Star.
3. Mastery Star - on the cafe window
From the easel, head south toward the street with the cafe. Check the building's facade and look at the window. The Mastery Star is attached to it.This Ephemeral is easy to walk past if you head directly toward the next 2D Jump, so collect the Star first and only then enter the nearby challenge.
4. Righteousness Star - in the passage behind you
The next Ephemeral is inside the 2D Jump near the cafe. Continue through the level until you reach the screen with the gravity ring, but instead of moving farther forward, turn around.Go back through the section you just completed. This reveals the hidden part of the route containing the Righteousness Star. If you only follow the obvious direction of the challenge, you can miss this pocket entirely.
5. Triviality Star - painting in the looping corridor
In the eastern part of the Institute, find the elevator, ride it up, and enter the 2D Jump with paintings. The important part here is not to rush because the puzzle deliberately makes you pass through the same corridor several times.Complete the first two loops normally. On the third loop, immediately after exiting the pipe, turn around and go straight back into it. On the next screen, enter the starting pipe again. The route changes. Continue to the fourth screen, where the Ephemeral is sitting on a painting.
Factory Main Gate and Production Workshop
6. Darkness Star - above the enhanced dash route
Fast travel to the Factory Main Gate and enter the nearby 2D Jump. Progress here revolves around enhanced dash spheres.Use them to climb to the third level. Wait until the moving sphere points upward, stop it in that position, and use it to launch yourself toward the platform with the Darkness Star.
7. Discovery Star - at the top of the challenge
Now travel to the Production Workshop Space Anchor and enter the nearby 2D Jump. Follow the platforms toward the far side of the screen, then keep climbing using the jumps. The upper route leads directly to the Discovery Star. After collecting it, do not leave the minigame because the eighth Ephemeral is hidden in the same challenge on a lower level.
8. Barking Star - behind a platform you can walk through
After collecting the previous Star, drop down and enter the pipe leading to another part of the level. Use the mecha to cross the spike section safely.Continue through the next dangerous area and approach the platform ahead. The game encourages you to jump onto it, but do not. Keep moving straight. The platform is passable, and the hidden area behind it contains the Barking Star.
9. Loneliness Star - immediately beyond the door
Return to the normal area near the Production Workshop and head west. You will pass an arcade machine. Remember its location because you will come back here for the final reward.Continue a little farther to the door. As soon as you pass through it, check the area on the right. The Loneliness Star is hiding there.
Biological Research Institute Central Module
10. Harm Star - on the wall heading east
The final Ephemeral is easiest to reach from the Biological Research Institute Central Module Space Anchor. From the anchor, head east and stay close to the left side of the corridor.Keep watching the wall as you move. The Harm Star is attached to it. Interact with the creature and the collection should be complete if you already found the other nine.
Where to claim the reward for all Nameless Ephemerals
After collecting all ten Stars, return to the Production Workshop. The Starpath Rabbit arcade machine is in the corridor west of the Space Anchor. It is the same machine you passed while going toward the Loneliness Star.Interact with the machine and choose the option connected to the Nameless Ephemeral collection. The full set rewards 30 Stellar Jades and 100 Utopia Coins. Collecting the Ephemerals also makes the Starpath Rabbit activity easier. If the counter is still incomplete, recheck the two easiest locations to miss first. One is the painting inside the looping corridor, where you need to break the normal sequence. The other is the hidden area behind the passable platform in the challenge near the Production Workshop. After that, you can continue exploring with our Biological Research Institute chests and puzzles guide. You already visited most of the necessary areas while collecting the Nameless Ephemerals, so you will not need to relearn the routes.
