To collect every Feline Gear set in The Witcher 3 Remastered, you will need to search Velen and Novigrad, travel to Skellige, and finish the hunt in Toussaint. This guide covers all 31 diagrams, from the basic armor and crossbow to the Grandmaster swords. We show the cave entrances, explain the statue puzzle, tell you where to craft each tier, and cover the Legendary versions available in New Game +.

What to know before looking for Feline Gear

Feline Gear, also known as Cat School Gear, is built around light armor and an aggressive, mobile playstyle. If you like dodging, getting behind enemies, and returning to offense quickly, this is one of the best Witcher sets to collect. If you prefer Sign-focused combat, compare it with our Griffin School Gear guide. Here, we focus on the route itself because the Feline diagram locations remain the same in Remastered. The set has five tiers. The levels below refer to when the crafted items can be equipped in a normal playthrough, not when you are allowed to collect the diagrams:
  • Basic - level 17, with the crossbow requiring level 29. Found in Velen and Novigrad. Seven diagrams.
  • Enhanced - level 23. Found in Velen and Novigrad. Six diagrams.
  • Superior - level 29. Found in Velen and Novigrad. Six diagrams.
  • Mastercrafted - level 34. Found in Skellige. Six diagrams.
  • Grandmaster - level 40. Found in Toussaint and requires Blood and Wine. Six diagrams.
The Feline Crossbow only exists in the basic tier. There are no Enhanced, Superior, Mastercrafted, or Grandmaster versions to search for. Every later tier contains four armor pieces and two swords. Each upgraded item requires the previous version as a crafting component, so keep your old gear. A witcher who sells his Enhanced boots for a few crowns will soon become very familiar with the road back to the armorer. For the most complicated basic cache, obtain the Eye of Nehaleni from Keira Metz during Wandering in the Dark. The artifact dispels the illusion blocking the cave entrance beneath Temple Isle. Cat potion or a torch helps in the darker tunnels, while Witcher Senses make it easier to spot chests, levers, and breakable walls. Save before the harder fights. Finding the correct entrance is much more pleasant than searching for it again after an unfortunate meeting with a golem.

Where to buy the Feline Gear maps

The maps add the related Scavenger Hunt quests to your journal and make the route easier to track. Buying them is optional because you can visit the locations below directly and collect the diagrams. For the Enhanced set, however, it is useful to read both of the first two maps because the six diagrams are split between two separate scavenger-hunt quests. One map does not reveal the entire Enhanced set.Adalbert Kermith's maps are sold by the following merchants:
  • First map - the merchant in Blackbough, west of Crow's Perch. Starts the hunt for the Enhanced armor, boots, and silver sword.
  • Second map - the blacksmith in Blackbough. Starts the hunt for the Enhanced trousers, gauntlets, and steel sword.
  • Third map - the quartermaster at Crow's Perch, near the armorer's workshop. Covers the Superior gear.
  • Fourth map - the blacksmith in Lindenvale. Covers the Mastercrafted gear in Skellige.
After buying a map, read it from your inventory. For the Grandmaster set, visit Lazare Lafargue in Beauclair and ask him about Cat School diagrams. The route below is already divided by tier, so you do not need to return to the merchants between every location. Read any notes you find as well because they expand the story behind the gear and advance the related scavenger-hunt objectives.

Basic Feline Gear - all seven diagrams

The armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots are all found together beneath Temple Isle. Each sword has its own location, while the crossbow is hidden on a wrecked ship. It is convenient to collect the swords first because neither requires the Eye of Nehaleni. Then deal with the shipwreck and leave the underground laboratory until you are ready for its enemies.

Feline steel sword - Drahim Castle ruins

Travel to the Drahim Castle ruins south of Novigrad. Find the entrance to the tower and break the wooden door with Aard. Keep descending the stairs until you reach the lowest cellar room, then search the chest. It contains the Feline steel sword diagram and documents connected to the scavenger hunt.

Feline silver sword - Est Tayiar

The Est Tayiar ruins are northeast of Oxenfurt. Drop through the opening into the underground area and inspect the wall on the right. Break the damaged masonry with Aard, then search the remains behind the opening. You will find the Feline silver sword diagram. You do not need to complete the entire questline connected to the ruins to collect it.

Feline Crossbow - the Flying Stag

Look for the wreck of the Flying Stag off the western coast of Novigrad, near the island southwest of the Lighthouse signpost. Reach the wreck by boat or swimming, climb aboard, and descend into the hold. Loot the chest for the Feline Crossbow diagram and the notes nearby. You can collect the crossbow alongside the other basic diagrams, but you cannot equip it until level 29.

Feline armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots - laboratory beneath Temple Isle

Start from Electors' Square on Temple Isle in northern Novigrad. Head toward the western edge of the island and find the path running along the cliff below the city buildings. Follow it down to a cave entrance that appears to be blocked by solid rock. Use the Eye of Nehaleni to dispel the illusion. Aard alone will not open this entrance.A golem waits inside, with the laboratory door locked behind it. The key is in another branch of the cave, so first take the left passage toward the statue chamber. Keep away from the poisonous mushrooms and watch for enemies. Solve the puzzle in this order:
  1. Find the lever beside each statue and turn all statues so they face the center of the platform.
  2. When the floor opens, jump into the pool below.
  3. Kill the drowners with your crossbow and search the remains on the bottom.
  4. Take the laboratory key, swim back up, and return to the main chamber.
  5. Open the door behind the golem and defeat Kiyan inside the laboratory.
  6. Loot his body. He carries all four basic Feline armor diagrams.
The golem hits hard, so use Quen and attack after its missed swings. In the laboratory, watch Kiyan's defensive Sign and do not try to overwhelm him with one uninterrupted attack string. After the fight, make sure you looted the armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots diagrams, then read the laboratory notes. The diagrams are on Kiyan's body, so searching only the room's containers will not complete the set.

Enhanced Feline Gear - all six diagrams

Enhanced Feline Gear can be equipped from level 23. Every diagram is hidden separately, but most of these locations do not require a long fight. A convenient route is to collect the silver sword in Novigrad first, then travel through Codgers' Quarry toward Oxenfurt and Aeramas' Abandoned Manor. The two caves around Toderas can be cleared during the same trip.

Enhanced Feline silver sword - house by Oxenfurt Gate in Novigrad

Head to Oxenfurt Gate in Novigrad. The required house is just inside the gate. Look for the grassy ledge and the wooden ladder that leads up to the entrance. Go inside and climb to the top floor. A chest there contains the Enhanced Feline silver sword diagram. You do not need to travel to Oxenfurt for this sword. The gate's name is what often sends players in the wrong direction.

Enhanced Feline gauntlets - Codgers' Quarry

Travel to Codgers' Quarry, west of Oxenfurt. Descend into the quarry and find the short mine entrance on the opposite side from the approach. Head inside and search the chest near the end of the passage for the Enhanced Feline gauntlets diagram. On your first visit, an encounter involving alghouls can trigger here, so deal with them before searching the cave.

Enhanced Feline trousers - cellar beneath the Oxenfurt blacksmith area

In the southeastern part of Oxenfurt's main island, find the building near the blacksmith and go down into the cellar. Follow the underground passage toward the metal doors. Activate Witcher Senses and inspect the wall on the right for a protruding brick you can interact with. Press it, enter the newly opened room, and loot the chest for the Enhanced Feline trousers diagram. This is a hidden switch, not another wall you need to break with Aard.

Enhanced Feline armor - Aeramas' Abandoned Manor

Travel to Aeramas' Abandoned Manor east of Oxenfurt. Climb the surviving stairs to the upper level of the ruined building. A chest stands beside the large bookshelf and contains the Enhanced Feline armor diagram. You only need to search the upper ruins for this diagram and do not have to continue through the manor's separate puzzle chain.

Enhanced Feline steel sword - cave between Toderas and Reardon Manor

Find the cave southwest of Toderas, between the village and Reardon Manor. After entering, keep to the left and inspect the chests before the stairs. A bear carcass inside the cave is another useful landmark. The nearby chest contains the Enhanced Feline steel sword diagram.

Enhanced Feline boots - cave east of Toderas

The second cave is located east of Toderas. Enter, activate Witcher Senses, and immediately check the right side. The chest containing the Enhanced Feline boots diagram is against the wall not far from the entrance. You do not need to explore deep into the cave for this diagram.

Superior Feline Gear - all six diagrams

Superior Feline Gear requires level 29. All four armor diagrams are now stored together, while the two swords remain in separate caves. The shorter route comes with stronger guards. We recommend preparing Quen and the appropriate oils before approaching the caches, especially if you are collecting the diagrams earlier than their equip level.

Superior Feline armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots - ruins near Crookback Bog

Look for a small set of stone ruins northwest of Crookback Bog and southwest of Dragonslayer's Grotto. The site is near a lake, with the chest tucked into an inner corner of the ruined walls. An earth elemental guards it. Defeat the enemy and loot the chest for all four Superior Feline armor diagrams.Do not confuse this location with the cave containing the Superior silver sword, where you encounter a rock troll. The armor diagrams are in the corner of small open ruins, not underground. If the elemental is too strong, return later. Its heavy attacks quickly demonstrate why light armor is not meant to be tested by standing still in front of it.

Superior Feline steel sword - coastal cave northeast of Novigrad

Find the coastal cave northeast of Novigrad, beyond Temple Isle. A Cat School symbol can be found near the entrance. Inside, defeat the golem and continue to the far section with a wooden platform, a boat, and several containers. Search the chests for the Superior Feline steel sword diagram.

Superior Feline silver sword - cave east of Ursten

Travel to the cave east of Ursten, south of Novigrad and southwest of Drahim Castle. Inside, you will encounter nekkers and a rock troll. Keep to the right, find the ledge, and climb up. Break the rock formations with Aard, then search the chest behind them for the Superior Feline silver sword diagram.

Mastercrafted Feline Gear - all six diagrams

The Mastercrafted Feline set is found in Skellige and can be equipped from level 34. The steel sword is on Ard Skellig, while the silver sword and all four armor pieces are on Faroe. If you already unlocked the local signposts, these searches are easy to combine into one trip. Remember that crafting each item also requires its Superior version.

Mastercrafted Feline steel sword - Kaer Gelen on Ard Skellig

Travel to Kaer Gelen in northern Ard Skellig. If the main gate is closed, circle around the fortress and use the side entrance into the ruins. Deal with the wraiths inside and start climbing the stairs. Roughly halfway up, look for a break in the wall. A chest beyond it contains the Mastercrafted Feline steel sword diagram.

Mastercrafted Feline silver sword - cave east of Harviken

On Faroe, travel to the cave east of Harviken. The entrance sits on the slope, slightly above the nearby shoreline. Inside, find the damaged wall and break it with Aard. Follow the opened passage to two chests. The Mastercrafted Feline silver sword diagram is in the one on the right.

Mastercrafted Feline armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots - coastal cave south of Trottheim

Stay on Faroe and head to the southern coast, south of Trottheim. Find the entrance to a coastal cave in a small bay where sirens may be present. Inside, continue straight and search behind the stone pillar and stalagmites. The chest contains all four Mastercrafted Feline armor diagrams. Do not confuse this cave with the silver-sword location near Harviken. Both are on Faroe, but they are separate sites.

Grandmaster Feline Gear - all six diagrams

The final tier is found in Toussaint from the Blood and Wine expansion and requires level 40. In Beauclair, visit Lazare Lafargue and ask him about Cat School Gear to start Scavenger Hunt: Grandmaster Feline Gear. All six diagrams are spread across three locations in northern Toussaint. The route is compact, but the ruins are occupied by a large Hanse force, so restock before leaving the city.

Grandmaster Feline armor - Villa Vedette

Head to Villa Vedette, the home of Bartolome de Launay, in northern Toussaint east of Arthach Palace Ruins. The main gate is locked, so circle around the outer wall on the right and find the wooden scaffolding. Climb into the courtyard, defeat the bandits, and speak with the captive merchant. Then enter the small red building and inspect the painting on the wall. Hidden behind it are the Grandmaster Feline armor diagram and notes pointing toward the next location.

Grandmaster Feline trousers and boots - Arthach Palace Ruins

The next stop is Arthach Palace Ruins, a Hanse base packed with bandits. Fight your way toward the central structures and the large signal fire. The chest beside it contains the Grandmaster Feline trousers and boots diagrams. Loot both diagrams and the Hanse leader's notes before moving on.

Grandmaster Feline swords and gauntlets - Pits of Brume

The final three diagrams are inside Pits of Brume, a cave in northern Toussaint northwest of the Trading Post and north of Dulcinea Windmill. Deal with the archespores inside and continue toward the back of the cave. Search the leather bag lying on the ground near the makeshift bed. It contains the Grandmaster Feline steel sword, silver sword, and gauntlets diagrams. The diagrams are in a bag rather than a normal wooden chest, so checking only containers along the walls can make you walk straight past them.

Where to craft and upgrade Feline Gear

After collecting the diagrams, take sword recipes to a blacksmith and armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots recipes to an armorer. Pay attention to the required craftsman level shown in the recipe because owning the diagram is not enough. Reliable options for Mastercrafted gear include Hattori in Novigrad after completing Of Swords and Dumplings, and Yoana at Crow's Perch after Master Armorers. Grandmaster pieces are crafted by Lazare Lafargue in Beauclair. The upgrade path is the same for swords and armor:
  1. Craft the basic item from its diagram.
  2. Use it to craft the Enhanced version.
  3. Use the Enhanced version to craft the Superior version.
  4. Use the Superior version to craft the Mastercrafted version.
  5. Use the Mastercrafted version to craft the Grandmaster version.
Do not sell or dismantle an item you plan to upgrade. If the previous version is stored in your personal stash, retrieve it before visiting the craftsman. At the higher tiers, compare the price of buying finished materials with crafting them yourself or dismantling unused gear because rare components can become expensive. You do not have to craft all six Grandmaster items at once. Build them gradually as you obtain the necessary materials. If you only want the Cat School appearance, Remastered includes a separate equipment appearance system. It does not replace the diagrams or crafting materials needed to make the actual gear. Our transmog and Reforge guide explains how the appearance system works. If you are also building combat skills around light armor, check our guide to the Remastered skill-tree changes rather than automatically copying old build recommendations.

How to get Legendary Feline Gear in New Game +

Legendary Feline armor and swords are available in New Game +. They follow the same upgrade tiers, and their diagrams are found in the same locations listed above. The scavenger-hunt routes also repeat, including the Grandmaster locations in Toussaint. There is no separate secret island containing the Legendary set.Normal diagrams collected during the first playthrough do not replace the Legendary diagrams. In New Game +, you need to collect the diagrams again. Upgrading a Legendary item requires the previous Legendary version rather than your old normal set. Level requirements in New Game + differ from the values listed for a first playthrough and depend on the level at which you started the new cycle. Check the exact item card in the crafting menu before spending materials.

What to check if you are missing a diagram

If the hunt seems complete but the item you need is missing from the crafting menu, first check the exact upgrade tier. Upgrade Diagrams Part 1 and Part 2 belong to the same Enhanced set and contain three diagrams each. Superior and Mastercrafted gear belong to Parts 3 and 4. Completing Part 1 does not mean you found all six Enhanced items. Check the crafting filters as well because they can hide recipes when you lack materials or when the craftsman is not skilled enough. Before traveling across the map again, check these common problem spots:
  • Basic armor - did you loot Kiyan's body rather than only searching the laboratory?
  • Enhanced trousers - did you press the brick switch in the Oxenfurt underground passage?
  • Superior armor - did you take all four diagrams from the same chest near the earth elemental?
  • Grandmaster swords and gauntlets - did you search the leather bag in Pits of Brume rather than only the normal containers?
  • Upgrade materials - do you still own the previous version of that exact item?
  • Crossbow - are you looking for an upgrade that does not exist for the Feline Crossbow?
A complete normal progression contains 31 diagrams: seven basic diagrams and six diagrams at each of the next four tiers. If the number does not add up, check the corresponding tier above instead of searching the entire map again. The missing piece is usually behind a hidden passage, in a container that was easy to overlook, or mixed up with another upgrade tier. Once all diagrams are collected, all that remains is the crafting chain and keeping each version for the next upgrade.
