There aren't many weapons in Silent Hill: Townfall, so every new one you find can significantly change the way you approach combat. During your first playthrough, you can obtain three main firearms. Once New Game+ is unlocked, two additional special weapons become available: the Axe and Pistol-3000. We won't cover planks, pipes, bricks, or bottles separately, as these are commonly found while exploring and essentially serve as disposable defensive tools. In this guide, we'll show you where to find every permanent weapon in Silent Hill: Townfall and explain which additional weapons become available after your first playthrough.
The Pistol is the first proper firearm you can obtain during the main story. When you take control of Simon again, make your way to Town Square. Here you'll find a box labeled Richard's Gift. Simply open it and take the weapon. The Pistol is much more convenient than improvised weapons when you need to quickly take down a single enemy without letting it get too close. According to the source, a standard enemy takes roughly two shots to kill. The weapon is difficult to miss because the box is located along the main route.
How to Get the Flare Gun
The Flare Gun is much better hidden and is an optional pickup. You can find it in the CEG Lockers while exploring Clara Woods. Look for Locker 75. The code is 184. If you don't want to search for the clue and barcode yourself, simply enter the combination into the lock.Image unavailableThe weapon is particularly useful because of its high damage. A single shot is often enough to deal with a standard enemy. The Flare Gun is also valuable closer to the end of the game, when some enemies become much more dangerous and you may not want to waste time on a prolonged fight. We've collected the other combinations in a separate guide: All Silent Hill: Townfall Codes: Safe, Door, Locker, and Terminal Passwords.
How to Get the Shotgun
Like the Pistol, the Shotgun cannot be missed. You receive it automatically after entering CEG Tower. There are no additional puzzles, hidden rooms, or special codes required.Image unavailableLike the Flare Gun, the Shotgun can kill most standard enemies with a single shot. Once you get it, it's best not to waste shells on every enemy you encounter, especially when you can simply avoid them.Shotgun ammo becomes particularly useful against Widows inside CEG Headquarters, so always check the bodies of dead Richards and explore every accessible room.
All Weapons in New Game+
The arsenal expands considerably after your first playthrough. The Axe becomes available in New Game+ regardless of which ending you received. The second bonus weapon, the Pistol-3000, must first be unlocked through the secret Sci-Fi ending. These additional weapons can also appear in different locations depending on the character you're controlling and the current part of the story.
How to Get the Axe
The Axe becomes available after completing the game and starting New Game+. Your previous ending does not affect whether it appears.Image unavailable
Where to Find the Axe as Simon
From the starting area, head to Shore Wynd. Open the white gate and search the area to the right. You'll find the Axe near the garage door. It's an extremely powerful melee weapon capable of killing standard enemies with a single hit. This makes the Axe an excellent way to conserve ammunition and move through familiar areas much faster in New Game+.
Where to Find the Axe as Zoe
You can find another Axe later when control switches to Zoe. Locate the house to the right of Mr. Stewart's house and head into the backyard. The Axe is leaning against the wooden shed. This means that missing the first one doesn't lock you out of the weapon for the rest of the playthrough, as the game gives you another opportunity to obtain it later.
How to Get the Pistol-3000
The Pistol-3000 is the most unusual weapon in Silent Hill: Townfall. Unlike the Axe, it isn't simply a reward for completing the game. You first need to unlock the secret Sci-Fi ending before it can appear in New Game+. If you finish the game with a different ending, simply starting NG+ won't be enough. The Pistol-3000 will not appear.
Where to Find the Pistol-3000 as Simon
Once you've met the unlock requirement, follow the same route used to find the Axe. From the starting area, head to Shore Wynd, open the white gate, and search the area near the garage on the right. This is where you'll find the Pistol-3000. It's considerably more powerful than the standard Pistol and can kill regular enemies with a single shot.Image unavailable
Where to Find the Pistol-3000 as Richard
The weapon appears again later during Richard's section. Reach Floor 5 of CEG Tower and enter the Boardroom. The Pistol-3000 is lying almost directly in front of the phone used to save the game. This is the same room where you can find the Level 3/4 Access Card, so the weapon is fairly difficult to miss if you thoroughly search the room.
Which Weapon Should You Use?
During your first playthrough, the Pistol remains the most versatile weapon. Its ammunition is better spent on regular enemies, while the rarer Shotgun shells and Flare Gun rounds are best saved for genuinely dangerous situations.Image unavailableThe balance changes considerably once you unlock New Game+. The Axe can kill standard enemies with a single hit and requires virtually no resources, making it perfect for quickly replaying familiar sections. The Pistol-3000 is even more convenient because it combines the range of the regular Pistol with enough damage to kill most enemies in a single shot.If you're planning additional playthroughs to unlock the remaining endings and collectibles, it's worth getting the Sci-Fi ending first. This will make the Pistol-3000 available in the following New Game+ cycle and significantly simplify your later runs.
