Silent Hill: Townfall has five endings, and the game barely explains what actually determines the outcome of the story. The three main endings are based on your number of enemy kills and the Clues and Documents you've discovered, while the other two secret endings are available only in New Game Plus.Fortunately, you don't need to finish Silent Hill: Townfall five separate times. If you prepare a few manual saves in advance and carefully balance your kills and discoveries, you can see every ending in just two full playthroughs. In this guide, we'll explain how to unlock Justice, Forever, Abandoned, Dog, and Sci-fi.
What Determines the Ending in Silent Hill: Townfall?
The three main endings — Justice, Forever, and Abandoned — are available during your first playthrough. Story choices, healing items used, total playtime, and most collectible types do not affect which of these endings you receive. The game compares two main values:
Kills.
Discoveries.
Discoveries specifically include Clues and Documents. Other collectible types are not needed for this calculation. If your Discoveries significantly outnumber your Kills, you'll receive Justice. If Discoveries are only slightly higher, you'll get Forever. If your Kills exceed your Discoveries, you'll get Abandoned. The actual route to the ending barely changes. The main difference is the final scene before the credits.Image unavailableThe other two endings work differently. Dog and Sci-fi are available only in New Game Plus and require specific actions during the story. If you fulfill the conditions for a secret ending, it takes priority over the three normal endings.
How to Get Every Ending in Two Playthroughs
The easiest approach is to dedicate your first playthrough to collectibles. Pick up everything you come across, but also kill as many enemies as possible. Your Kill count should still end up higher than your Discoveries, giving you the Abandoned ending. If you also want the achievement for completing the game without manual saves, don't create any manual saves during this run. After the credits, start New Game Plus. This time, do the opposite: avoid optional fights and collect all available Documents and Clues again. At the same time, complete the requirements for both the Dog and Sci-fi endings, which we explain in detail below.Image unavailableIn Part 4, once you reach Clara Woods and Chapter 10, Missing Parts, continue until you assemble the mechanical device used to open the CEG Tower gate. Do not use it immediately. Create a separate manual save first.Continue the game while killing as few enemies as possible and collecting Documents and Clues. In Part 6, Chapter 15, Trying Again, stop before the point where you need to turn the red valve handle and release the container. Create another save here. Now finish the game normally. If your Discoveries significantly outnumber your Kills, you should receive the Justice ending. After the credits, reload the Chapter 15 save. From there, you can obtain Sci-fi and Dog one after another, assuming you've completed the required steps for both secret endings throughout New Game Plus. That leaves Forever. Reload the older save from Clara Woods, before using the mechanical device. Return to any still-accessible areas and kill roughly ten enemies, then continue the story. From this point onward, stop collecting optional Documents and try to kill almost every enemy you encounter while playing as Richard and Simon. Save again before the red valve handle in Chapter 15.Image unavailableYour goal is to bring the two values as close together as possible while keeping Discoveries slightly higher than Kills. If you still get Abandoned after the final boss, reload your endgame save, collect a few more Documents in the final area, and avoid killing regular enemies during the boss fight.
Using this method, you can unlock all five endings in just two full playthroughs.
How to Get the Justice Ending
Justice can loosely be considered the good ending of Silent Hill: Townfall. To unlock it, your number of Discoveries needs to be noticeably higher than your enemy Kill count. You don't need to avoid combat entirely. Some enemies encountered during the story are practically impossible to bypass. Based on current testing, you'll need to kill around 20 enemies during mandatory progression. There is still plenty of room for mistakes. Justice has been obtained with roughly 80 Discoveries and more than 50 Kills, so killing a monster that gets stuck beside a puzzle isn't going to ruin the entire run. Most regular enemies are easier to simply run past. If you move through an area quickly enough, they'll eventually stop chasing you. Inside buildings, you can also use rooms with doors that lock behind you: hide inside for a moment, and the pursuer will usually return to its original position.Near the end of the game, make frequent use of the Flare Gun. The huge invulnerable enemy only needs to be stunned with a shot so you can run past.Image unavailableA similar tactic works against the final boss. Stun it with the Flare Gun, move closer, fire a couple of Shotgun rounds, then create distance again. Additional ammunition is scattered around the arena, so you can keep circling the area and ignore most of the regular enemies. If you've already obtained the Sci-fi ending and unlocked the Pistol-3000, the fight becomes even easier.
Main Justice requirement: Discoveries must significantly exceed Kills.
Unlocking this ending awards the For St. Amelia achievement.
How to Get the Forever Ending
Forever sits directly between the other two main endings. Discoveries still need to outnumber Kills, but the difference must be relatively small. The exact boundary between Justice and Forever is still unclear, so trying to calculate it from the very beginning of a playthrough isn't especially convenient. It's much easier to use the Chapter 10 save we recommended earlier. After reloading it, kill roughly ten enemies in Clara Woods, then stop collecting most optional Documents and fight enemies more aggressively throughout the following parts.Image unavailableMake sure to save before the red valve handle in Chapter 15. Finish the game and check the result. If you get Abandoned, you've gone too far with the Kills. Reload, collect several remaining Documents in the final area, and avoid killing regular enemies during the final battle. If you get Justice again instead, the gap is still too large and you'll need to increase your Kill count.
Main Forever requirement: Discoveries must be slightly higher than Kills.
Unlocking this ending awards the Here To Stay achievement.
How to Get the Abandoned Ending
Abandoned is the easiest ending to get if you aren't deliberately trying to spare every monster you encounter. Your Kill count needs to exceed your Discoveries. The exact difference doesn't matter much: if Kills are higher, the game will almost always select this ending. That's why we recommend getting Abandoned during your first playthrough. Collect everything you need for other achievements while also clearing locations of every enemy you can reach.Another option is to ignore optional Clues and Documents almost entirely. In that case, the normal amount of combat required by story progression makes it much easier for Kills to overtake Discoveries.Image unavailableAbandoned also pairs well with a speedrun. Instead of sneaking around enemies, simply kill anything blocking your route and collect only the items required to progress.
Main Abandoned requirement: Kills must exceed Discoveries.
Unlocking this ending awards the Just Making Things Worse achievement.
How to Get the Secret Dog Ending
Dog is available only in New Game Plus. To unlock it, you need to find three coins and place each one into a special dog collection bank during the playthrough.Don't leave this chain until the end. You cannot return to completed areas, so missing a coin or collection bank effectively ruins the attempt.

Interact with it and use the Strange Access Card you found earlier. Then go through the door. After the scene with Simon, the Sci-fi ending begins automatically. The final boss is skipped entirely. Unlocking this ending awards the Sci-fi-lent Hill achievement.
