After what feels like a hundred thousand years, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered finally has proper user-created mods on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Just don't expect a Nexus Mods-sized library yet. The console section has only just launched, and every mod needs separate support for each platform. Some are already available on both consoles, others have only reached PlayStation or Xbox so far, while most of the huge PC library is still unavailable.Below, we've collected the best mods that have already made it into the Remastered console ecosystem through mod.io. We deliberately left out the dozens of PC projects that merely promise a console port someday. Everything here is already marked for console support or has a published PS5/Xbox version. The catalog changes almost daily, so always check the supported platforms on the individual mod page before installing anything.But first, we strongly recommend checking out our very useful, at least in our opinion, guide to installing mods in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It also covers linking your CD PROJEKT RED account, the Mods menu, and console-specific restrictions.

How to Install Mods on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

On consoles, everything goes through the built-in Remastered Mods menu and mod.io. Launch the game, open Mods, sign in to your CD PROJEKT RED account, and link it to mod.io. Then choose the mod you want, select Subscribe, restart the game, and check the Installed tab. You do not need USB drives, manual file copying, or Nexus Mods on consoles. In fact, those methods will not work. PS5 and Xbox can only use versions that the author has uploaded to the official cross-platform system and that have passed the required checks.The The Witcher 3 console mod catalog on mod.io is still fairly small, but it has been growing quickly since Remastered launched.

Restored Content - Yellow Mutagens: Brings Back Yellow Mutagens

One of the most interesting additions in the launch catalog. Restored Content - Yellow Mutagens restores the fourth mutagen type that was cut during development: yellow mutagens. They link with yellow General skills and provide a Stamina regeneration bonus.The mod fits especially well with Remastered, where the General skill tree has been noticeably reworked and the Witcher School techniques have been expanded. Yellow abilities finally get a matching mutagen color instead of looking slightly out of place next to the red, blue, and green branches.This is more than a cosmetic mod because it changes progression and alchemy. We would install it at the beginning of a playthrough rather than halfway through an old save with dozens of active skills. If you have not had time to get to grips with the revamped system yet, take a look at our guide to the best skills in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered.

Ard Bombs: New Bombs and Reworked Models

This mod changes the models and textures of the existing witcher bombs so they are easier to tell apart, while also adding five completely new ones. In the base game, bombs can easily become one of those mechanics you vaguely remember exists somewhere in the radial menu. Here, the selection becomes more varied both visually and mechanically, giving alchemy-focused builds another reason to open the inventory for something other than Swallow and oils.The mod is especially well suited to repeat playthroughs. It does not disrupt the main campaign, but it does a good job of refreshing Geralt's familiar toolkit.

CROW Combat Modules: A Modular Combat Overhaul

CROW Combat Modules is aimed at players who still find Remastered's updated combat a little too familiar. It is a modular package of changes that rewards a more aggressive playstyle without forcing you to relearn the entire game. That modular structure is the main advantage. Instead of installing one enormous overhaul and spending half an hour wondering why a Drowner can suddenly kill a witcher by looking at him, you can enable individual components and gradually tune the difficulty to your liking.For a first Remastered playthrough, we would still recommend spending some time with the unmodified combat first. CD PROJEKT RED has already reworked animations, enemy behavior, and the skill tree, so it makes sense to understand what you actually dislike about the new version before layering another combat system on top.

PERFECT No Fall Damage: Removes Fall Damage

Amusingly, PERFECT No Fall Damage does exactly what its name says: it completely removes fall damage. The current version also fixes an old problem with similar mods and does not make falling NPCs or monsters immortal.It is a small, simple, and extremely convenient mod if you want to explore without calculating the height of every ledge like an engineer. It does affect balance, though, since you can simply ignore some otherwise dangerous drops. At the time this guide was prepared, the current Remastered file was available for PlayStation 5, but not Xbox Series X|S. This is a good example of why the Available on Consoles tag does not mean identical availability on every platform.

No Artificial Player Light: Removes the Artificial Light Around Geralt

No Artificial Player Light disables the hidden light source that constantly follows Geralt and illuminates the area around him. In the base game, this makes the character easier to see, but it can noticeably hurt the look of night scenes and dark interiors. The lighting can make it seem as though Geralt is carrying an invisible lamp directly above his head.With that light removed, nights, caves, and interiors look more natural, and Remastered's new lighting gets more room to shine. The mod barely affects gameplay and is a good choice for anyone who wants a more atmospheric image without completely overhauling the graphics. Version 2.02-29 is currently available for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, while PS5 is not listed among the supported platforms for that file.

Book Inspired Medallion: A More Book-Accurate Medallion for Geralt

Book Inspired Medallion changes Geralt's iconic witcher medallion. Instead of the large three-dimensional wolf head from the games, he gets a more restrained round design inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski's descriptions while still retaining CD PROJEKT RED's familiar wolf symbol.It is a small change, but one you will notice in plenty of dialogue scenes and close-ups. It is a good choice for players who enjoy book-inspired details without wanting to completely redesign the character. The current version is available on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Letho LOD Extended: Fixes Letho at a Distance

Letho LOD Extended fixes a very specific visual issue. Letho's model switches to a lower level of detail too aggressively, making him look noticeably worse than other major NPCs in certain scenes.The mod makes his LOD behavior more consistent with other important characters without disabling the system entirely. In other words, Letho stops suddenly looking like he came from a version made for a very old graphics card, while the game can still save resources where the difference is not noticeable. It is a small change with virtually no gameplay impact and is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Ciri - Alternative look - DLC: A New Alternative Outfit for Ciri

Ciri - Alternative look - DLC turns the popular alternative Ciri outfit into a separate DLC that can be enabled or disabled through the game settings, much like the official alternative appearance.The author added the missing winter variant, a School of the Cat medallion, improved the physics of several clothing elements, and updated some of the textures. As a result, it is more than a simple file replacement. It is a full additional appearance option for Ciri that works especially well on a repeat playthrough.The mod is marked as Available on Consoles on mod.io. If it does not appear in your PS5 or Xbox catalog, check the mod page directly. Console files are approved separately and may not arrive on every platform at the same time.

White Hair for Vimme Vivaldi: A More Book-Accurate Vivaldi

White Hair for Vimme Vivaldi changes Vimme Vivaldi's hair and beard to white, bringing the banker closer to his description in the books.It is a tiny adjustment to a single character, so do not expect it to transform your next Witcher 3 playthrough. Still, details like this work nicely in a collection of lore-friendly mods that gently move the characters closer to the source material without turning the entire visual style into a different game.The mod supports PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Auto Win Gwent: For Players Who Do Not Want to Play Gwent

Auto Win Gwent automatically ends Gwent matches with a win for Geralt. For some players, that probably sounds like a crime against The Witcher 3. For others, it is finally a convenient way to finish Gwent-related quests and collect cards without interrupting the RPG for dozens of matches.We would not recommend it if you actually enjoy the card game, since the mod effectively removes an entire system from the playthrough. But if you are starting yet another new game and already know you have no intention of playing dozens of matches against every innkeeper on the Continent, it is a convenient option.At the time this guide was prepared, the mod was listed on mod.io with console support. As with the others, check your specific platform directly in Remastered's built-in catalog.

Which Mods Should You Install First?

If you do not want to immediately turn Remastered into a different game, start with a small set:
  • Book Inspired Medallion barely changes the original design;
  • Letho LOD Extended fixes one specific visual issue;
  • No Artificial Player Light is a good choice for more natural lighting on Xbox;
  • Restored Content - Yellow Mutagens expands the revamped progression system;
  • Ard Bombs adds more variety to alchemy;
  • CROW Combat Modules is best installed after you have tried Remastered's standard combat first.
We strongly recommend against installing everything in the catalog at once. Even with the official mod.io system, these are still user-created modifications, and two perfectly functional projects can conflict with each other. Add mods gradually and create a separate manual save before making major gameplay changes.

Why Is a Mod Available on PS5 but Not Xbox, or Vice Versa?

The developers explicitly warn that console compatibility is checked separately. An author may upload a single project to mod.io, while a specific file receives support for PS5 only, Xbox Series X|S only, or both platforms. Script-based mods intended for consoles also require REDkit. Simple textures and resource packages can be created with other tools, but that still does not guarantee automatic approval.So do not rely only on the general Available on Consoles tag. On the mod page, check the version entry and the exact list of supported platforms. If a mod does not appear at all in the PS5 or Xbox in-game catalog, you cannot manually transfer the PC version from Nexus Mods.

Will This List of the Best Mods Keep Growing?

Almost certainly. At the launch of the cross-platform system, mod.io had just over a hundred mods in total, with only a small portion marked for consoles. In the first few days after Remastered launched, authors had already started updating older projects and publishing console builds.So this list is better viewed as a strong starting selection than a definitive ranking for the next several years. The most interesting phase will begin when larger REDkit projects reach PS5 and Xbox, including new quests, weapons, full combat overhauls, and other content that was previously limited to PC.
