Enshrouded 1.0 launches on October 15, 2026, taking the game out of Early Access on PC and bringing it to PlayStation 5 on the same day. This guide covers the confirmed release changes, new content, and what owners of older worlds should expect. We also explain how to back up your builds, prepare a server and your gear, and why the first thing you should open after the update is the skill tree rather than a new loot route.

When does Enshrouded 1.0 launch, and on which platforms?

Enshrouded 1.0 launches on October 15, 2026. On PC, this is the full release of the game that has been available through Steam Early Access since January 24, 2024. On PlayStation, it is the console launch for PS5 and PS5 Pro. If you still see January 24, 2024 beside the Steam listing, that is the Early Access release date rather than the 1.0 launch date. The platform schedule currently looks like this:
  • PC, Steam - October 15, 2026.
  • PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro - October 15, 2026.
  • Xbox Series X|S - spring 2027. Keen Games has not announced a specific day yet.
Keen Games says the Xbox version needs more time because Enshrouded combines large-scale voxel building, terrain deformation, multiplayer systems, and a large open world in ways that are technically demanding to optimize on another console platform. The studio chose to finish PC and PlayStation first rather than rush the Xbox build. Do not buy another platform version expecting Xbox to launch in October. Also check the separate release announcement for the exact unlock time and final download size because a release date by itself does not always mean midnight in your region.Use the links below to jump to the most important parts of this guide:

What is new in Enshrouded 1.0?

The release update combines the next stage of the adventure with another pass over systems that already exist. Keen Games has confirmed a new biome, new enemies, new progression, combat improvements, quality-of-life changes, and performance work. The September combat breakdown also confirms a higher level cap and a major expansion for magic and ranged builds. That gives returning players a reason to come back even if they already exhausted the currently available high-level content. We would not recommend following speculative pre-release routes into specific lava areas, islands, or dungeons yet. Community discussions and preview builds contain plenty of details, but those are not a replacement for the final release quest flow. Prepare your equipment and storage, then follow the live journal once 1.0 is installed. Clearing random locations in advance because someone called them "mandatory for 1.0" is not useful unless Keen Games confirms the requirement.

New level cap and skill-tree reset

In 1.0, the maximum player level increases to 50, while the equipment cap rises to level 55. Keen Games also confirmed that the skill tree will be reset because new skills are being added and existing nodes are being moved. When you first load your character after the update, open the tree and spend those points again before leaving the base. Your favorite weapon will not make up for half of your passive bonuses being unassigned.Take screenshots of your current build before the patch. They will help you remember the idea behind the setup, but do not force the new tree to copy the old layout exactly if the structure has changed. Start with the core of your playstyle, including your main weapon, mobility, defense, and resource needs. Spend the remaining points after a short test in a familiar area where you can learn what changed without immediately fighting new high-level enemies.

New magic, wand attacks, and ranged options

Mages receive nine new spells. Keen Games has published their official English names:
  • Mana Drain.
  • Entangle.
  • Pillar of Flames.
  • Blizzard.
  • Ball Lightning.
  • Summon Fire Totem.
  • Summon Ice Totem.
  • Summon Shock Totem.
  • Summon Hollow Skeleton.
Eternal Spells are also being expanded and upgraded. Keen says there are now 22 tier 7 spell versions, which are the Eternal versions that do not consume spell ammunition when cast. They still use Mana, and the 1.0 balance pass changes Mana costs and casting times. Eternal Spells themselves can now be upgraded with perks, including effects such as reduced Mana cost.Wands are getting heavy attacks that pierce enemies, along with new attacks that can be used in the air and after evasive movement. The skill tree also adds ways to increase the number of summonable skeletons and totems. Another skill links critical Wand hits to a stronger follow-up Staff attack. These changes are meant to give Wand builds more than one repeated basic attack loop.Ranged builds also gain new options. Keen Games has confirmed Eternal Fire Arrow, Eternal Shock Arrow, and Eternal Bone Arrow, and Eternal Arrows can be upgraded with perks. The new ranged skill options include stronger piercing damage, durability recovery opportunities, and Shroud-time recovery tied to certain kills. Enemy factions are also receiving new variants, including heavier and elite threats, so the new tools arrive alongside tougher targets. If you play a mage, leave room to experiment with crowd control and summons before deciding on one final setup. We recommend trying several combinations against familiar enemies before spending every stored resource on one build. Archers should do the same with the new Eternal Arrows and tree changes. A pre-release feature list is enough to plan testing, but not enough to honestly declare one universal best build for all of 1.0.

Adventure Sharing and player-made adventures

The first version of Adventure Sharing already arrived with Update 8: Forging the Path in April 2026. It allows players to share worlds and visit creations made by the community, with tools such as a configurable visitor spawn point. Keen Games has described this as the beginning of a larger system rather than a finished feature set.Future expansion plans include logic systems for interactive elements, puzzles, enemy spawning, and traps. Those additions are especially interesting for players who want to build their own adventures rather than only decorative bases. However, do not assume that every roadmap tool will definitely be present in the October 15 build until the final 1.0 changelog confirms it. You can still prepare a clean visitor route, a sensible spawn area, and readable navigation before the update because those improvements help regardless of which advanced logic tools ship immediately.

Which fixes and improvements are planned for release?

Keen Games has highlighted several existing systems it wants to improve for 1.0, including the young dragon fight, Updraft behavior while gliding, character proportions, villagers getting stuck, and fishing. These are not side notes. They affect the ordinary actions players repeat between major loot runs and boss fights. If you are returning after a long break, re-check movement, combat timing, and your usual control settings rather than assuming every familiar interaction will feel identical.Another major target is performance optimization, including lower-end and mid-range PCs. Keen has specifically said that performance is one of the biggest challenges it is tackling for 1.0 after years of adding systems and visual detail. The team has also discussed shader-compilation improvements. None of that is a promise that every GPU will gain a specific number of frames, so do not translate "performance work" into "your PC will definitely run at 60 FPS."If you want a useful before-and-after comparison, run a short benchmark of your own world before updating. Pick one base and one familiar outdoor route, note the resolution, graphics settings, and typical frame rate, then repeat the same route after installing 1.0. That will tell you what changed on your system. Comparing an empty field before the patch with the busiest floor of a giant castle afterward does not tell you much.

What is already in the game and is not new to 1.0?

If you have not played Enshrouded for a long time, it is easy to mistake every unfamiliar system for 1.0 content. Dynamic water, swimming, diving, and fishing already arrived with the Wake of the Water update in November 2025. That update also added the high-level Veilwater Basin region and expanded the equipment and exploration systems. Those features will naturally be part of the 1.0 game, but they are not debuting for the first time on October 15.Update 8: Forging the Path in April 2026 had already reworked melee combat, the skill tree, and gear progression. It added heavy attacks, weapon special abilities, item upgrading with Runes, the first Adventure Sharing implementation, quest-journal improvements, and quality-of-life tools for managing resources around a base. If you skipped that entire stage of Early Access, returning for 1.0 will feel very different from simply installing one large patch. Spend some time understanding the gear and recipes already in the game before assuming every unfamiliar mechanic was added by the release update.

Will there be a wipe, and do you need a new world?

Keen Games has not announced a mandatory wipe of every existing world for 1.0. That should not be turned into a promise that every old save will update flawlessly, however. Until the full release instructions are published, the safest approach is simple: back up your current state, install the update, and then test the existing world. There is no reason to delete your base or character in advance just because the version number is changing to 1.0.It is important to separate the confirmed skill-point reset from a full progress wipe. The skill reset is happening because the tree is changing. It does not mean your buildings, storage, world, and entire character are being deleted. These are different operations, so they need different preparation.Starting a fresh world makes sense if you want to replay the adventure with friends or experience the revised early game from the beginning. If your priority is continuing a large build, test the existing save first. Another option is using a familiar character in another world, but world progression itself does not simply move with that character. Workshops, rescued survivors, and other world-specific unlocks still need to be established in the new world.

How to back up your Enshrouded saves

Close the game first and wait for Steam synchronization to finish. Then copy the save files to a separate folder with a clear name and date. Back up the entire relevant save set rather than only one file that appears to contain the world because Enshrouded keeps additional data and rolling copies. The current official save-management documentation points to these locations:
  • Local saves: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\enshrouded.
  • Steam Cloud local copy: Steam\userdata\YourSteamUserID\1203620\remote. The beginning of the path depends on where Steam is installed.
  • Dedicated server: the directory set by saveDirectory. The default is ./savegame.
If you use Steam Cloud, you can also view the stored files through the Enshrouded Steam Cloud save page. You do not need to delete the originals or disable cloud synchronization just to make a normal backup. Keep the copied pre-1.0 version somewhere separate and do not immediately overwrite it after the first launch. That gives you a clean rollback point if you need to investigate a problem with the updated world.

How to prepare for Enshrouded 1.0

We recommend spending the final days before release organizing what you already have rather than farming thousands of items "just in case." Exact new recipes and progression requirements still need to be checked in the release build, while a functional base and a normal stock of useful consumables will help regardless of the route. Review your character, workshops, and storage, then make the setup easier to understand. The checklist below is preparation advice rather than a list of requirements for unlocking the new biome.

Character: gear, consumables, and inventory space

Repair your main weapon and carry a backup if your build normally relies on one. Review armor upgrades rather than trusting an old set simply because its appearance is familiar. Stock food, healing supplies, arrows, or spell ammunition for the playstyle you actually use. Leave several backpack slots free as well because exploring a new area becomes much less exciting when every new item has to compete with the third stack of random branches.Keep some Runes available for testing new upgrades, but do not burn your entire stock on spare equipment before seeing what 1.0 changes. Once the update is installed, rebuild your skill tree and test the character in a familiar place. Check survivability, Mana or Stamina use, attack flow, and the resources your normal combat loop consumes. Confirm that the build works first, then take it into unknown encounters.

Base: workshops and organized storage

Make sure the survivors and crafting stations you use are accessible and that moving between them does not require running around half the building every time. Sort common materials so they are easy to find and leave room for new resources. Finish the upgrades that are already available and genuinely useful to your character. We do not recommend farming thousands of one specific material for a recipe that has not been confirmed yet.If you plan to share your world through Adventure Sharing, inspect the visitor spawn point separately. Think about where a guest will go first, what they will see, and how they can reach the main build or return to safety. That work is useful even before any additional adventure-building tools arrive. A world that makes sense to a visitor is better than one that only makes sense to the owner who remembers every hidden staircase.

Server: what the host should do before updating

Agree on a maintenance window with your group, then shut the server down cleanly. Copy the save folder and the server configuration file to a separate location. After 1.0 releases, update both the dedicated server build and every player's game client before bringing the group back in. Check the final Keen Games instructions and your hosting provider's panel as well because individual providers can handle updates differently. On the first launch, confirm that the correct world loaded, the base is intact, and players can connect. Then make sure every character has rebuilt their skills after the reset. If the server suddenly shows an empty world instead of your old save, do not immediately start rebuilding from scratch. Check which save directory and world file the server loaded first. The pre-update backup exists specifically so you can investigate calmly rather than overwrite the old state.

Can PC and PS5 players play together?

Enshrouded supports solo play and large co-op sessions, but the player cap is not identical on every platform. PC servers support up to 16 players, which is also the maximum slot count in Keen Games' dedicated-server configuration. The current PlayStation Store listing for PS5, however, advertises up to 8 online players with PlayStation Plus. Do not assume that the 16-player PC limit automatically carries over to console.Launching on PC and PS5 on the same day also does not mean crossplay is available. Keen Games staff confirmed shortly before release that PC and PS5 crossplay will not be available at launch, although the studio knows it is a popular request and is looking into it for a later update. If your group wants to start together on October 15, choose the same platform rather than relying on future support. The same caution applies to cross-save. Keen Games has not confirmed a general PC-to-PS5 save-transfer system for launch. Using one character in different worlds on the same ecosystem is not the same thing as moving progression between platforms. Decide this before everyone buys a copy, especially if one player already has hundreds of hours on Steam while the rest of the group plans to start on PS5.

How much does Enshrouded cost, and do existing owners need to buy 1.0?

For players who already own Enshrouded on Steam, version 1.0 is an update to the existing game. You do not need to buy a second copy or a separate expansion just because Early Access is ending. The base price has already changed, however. Keen Games increased the European Steam price by €10 on September 8, 2026, bringing it to €39.99, with equivalent regional pricing elsewhere. The exact amount still depends on the storefront, region, and any active promotion. Do not automatically apply the Steam price to PlayStation, and do not assume that buying the PC version grants a console license. If you mainly care about the quality of the 1.0 build, waiting for launch-day impressions on your own platform is a reasonable option. Buying now simply means you can already play the Early Access content and carry that Steam ownership into 1.0.

PC system requirements and how to prepare your computer

As of this check, Steam still lists the following PC requirements. These are the published specifications heading into 1.0 rather than our own performance measurements. Installing the release update does not guarantee identical performance in every world, at every base size, or at every graphics preset.Minimum requirements:
  • OS: Windows 10, 64-bit.
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X.
  • RAM: 16 GB.
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB VRAM, AMD Radeon RX 580 with at least 6 GB VRAM, or Intel Arc A380.
  • Storage: 60 GB available space.
Recommended requirements:
  • OS: Windows 10, 64-bit.
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X.
  • RAM: 16 GB.
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc A770.
  • Storage: 60 GB available space. SSD recommended.
Do not confuse the 60 GB installation requirement with the final size of the 1.0 patch because those are different numbers. Before updating, leave some extra free space, verify that your saves have synchronized, and write down your current graphics settings. After release, tune the game around the places you actually play, including your own base and normal exploration routes, instead of copying settings from a benchmark recorded in a completely different world.A stable result is more useful than immediately pushing every visual option to maximum. Enshrouded's performance can vary significantly between an open landscape and a heavily developed voxel settlement. Start with the settings you already know, compare the same area after the patch, then raise quality gradually if you have headroom. That gives you a much clearer picture of what the 1.0 optimization work changed on your hardware.

What should you do immediately after installing Enshrouded 1.0?

Before heading into the new content, spend a few minutes checking the basics. This helps separate real update problems from forgotten settings, an old server path, or skill points that were reset exactly as intended.
  • Make sure you loaded the correct world and character.
  • Check your base, storage, and equipped gear.
  • Reassign your skill points.
  • Review controls, movement settings, and graphics options.
  • Test the rebuilt character in a familiar area.
  • Open the quest journal and check the current objectives that lead into the next stage of the adventure.
If everything looks normal, you can move on to the new content. If you are returning after a long break, give yourself time to learn the major systems that already changed before 1.0, especially gear upgrading, combat, and Adventure Sharing. Starting a completely new game is not required just because the version number reached 1.0. Choose between continuing and restarting based on what sounds more enjoyable: expanding the world you already built or experiencing Embervale again from the beginning.
